The story of Max Verstappen in Formula 1 began long before his debut in the championship. Born on September 30, 1997, in Hasselt, Belgium, Max grew up in a family deeply connected to motorsport. His father, Jos Verstappen, was a Formula 1 driver, while his mother, Sophie Kumpen, also had an important background in karting. From an early age, Max was surrounded by racing and developed a passion that would eventually take him to the very top of the sport.
His journey began in karting, where he quickly demonstrated exceptional talent, speed, and competitiveness. Throughout his childhood and teenage years, he competed in numerous national and international championships, winning important titles and attracting the attention of professionals across the motorsport world. In 2013, he stood out even further by winning world titles in karting, confirming his potential to pursue a professional racing career.
In 2014, Max took the next step by competing in the European Formula 3 Championship. Despite his young age, he secured ten victories during the season and impressed everyone with his aggressive overtaking, ability to perform in difficult conditions, and remarkable adaptability. His performances caught the attention of Red Bull, which signed him to its junior driver programme and opened the door to Formula 1. by @jaobryant_
