2 years of Eden.

It feels like a different life when I think about @hly.darby and me driving back home to Houston with a tug on our hearts that maybe God was calling us back.

Our story isn’t one that started with blueprints or a clear picture of the finished product. It’s been a story of small yeses over time. A dm between me and @abrahamguajardo became the beginning of a journey of faith and obedience. And now, looking back at all God has done in just two years, it feels like nothing short of a miracle. Thank you, Jesus, for two years of Eden.

If there’s a testimony in the story of our church, it’s this: you don’t have to see the whole picture to say yes. You just have to keep surrendering, keep obeying, and trust that God is able to do immeasurably more than anything you could ask or imagine.

And to every family who has prayed, sacrificed, given, believed, served, and actually picked up the phone just to call and encourage us, thank you. You have carried this story with us.

There are so many stories to tell, but only God could write this one. 33 pastors serving in 15 different neighborhoods across the city I grew up in isn’t a story I would’ve come up with on my own, but it’s one I’m incredibly grateful to watch unfold.

Some of these pastors I’ve known for over a decade and have watched God shape and prepare for this very moment. Others I’ve had the privilege of getting to know as our church has grown. What’s become abundantly clear is that God has brought together a unique group of people for a moment just like this.

What an honor for me and @hly.darby to serve alongside @abrahamguajardo, @alenaguajardo, and this amazing team of pastors.

This Sunday we commissioned four new pastors to serve across Houston.

That means @edenchurchhouston now has fifteen neighborhoods with thirty-three shepherds who have said yes to caring for people, opening their homes, praying with the hurting, teaching Scripture, protecting sound doctrine, and pointing others to Jesus.

Pastoral ministry has always been about laying down your life for the sake of others.

As we prepare for August 2026, we remain convinced that the Church is strongest when pastors know their people, people know their pastors, and the gospel takes root one neighborhood at a time.

Houston, we’re just getting started.

We’ve been a church for a year and 9 months, and a few things have stayed consistent:

God’s plan is always better.

Don’t underestimate simple obedience.

And the Church was never a building. It has always been a people.

Tomorrow will be a lot of the same but different. Church is happening on campus at UH instead of at Post like normal, but the reminder of this weekend is that God’s presence isn’t confined to a space. The Gospel is for everyone, but transformation belongs to those who respond.

After Easter, we felt it was important to slow down and consider what Scripture actually shows us about the life of a disciple.

Repenting of sin.
Forgiving enemies.
Loving your neighbor.
Giving in secret.
Sharing your story.

These are not the whole of discipleship, but they are clear distinctions of someone truly following Jesus.

Each week, we leave with something practical, a rhythm to build, a step to take, and a faith that moves beyond a moment.
