This year has been one of the best and worst years of my life. I have never felt so loved by my friends yet I’ve never lived farther from them. I travelled the world yet I’ve never felt so trapped in one place. I’ve read dozens of books yet I don’t feel like I’ve learned many new things. I’ve begun to see my parents as people and maybe even friends yet I’ve never felt more blind to how they see the world. I’ve made more money than all previous years combined yet I don’t feel any closer to success. I have been overwhelmed with feelings of privilege and luck yet I feel so far behind so many of my peers. I have formed and strengthened bonds new and old yet everyday I question how many I’ve lost or neglected. I feel surrounded and alone, restless and tired, hopeful and trepidatious. I am full to bursting and yet I am empty.

Let’s see what a new year will bring.
