Paper Weight with Vicariously Staged Productions

3 years ago Skyler reached out to me asking if I’d like to be a part of a student project he was putting together. I never could’ve imagined what would come from that initial conversation. I met my wife on the original production, created a non-profit theatre company, produced a run of Every Brilliant Thing, found some of the best friends I could ask for, and finally got to fulfill the dream of doing this production one more time.

I couldn’t be more thankful for everyone who was a part of this journey. From the original cast and team 3 years ago to this current group of artists who brought a whole new life to this story to all the people who helped behind the scenes to make this dream a reality.

While this goal and production have come to a close, I promise this is just the beginning for Vicariously Staged in Utah. I hope you’re excited because I definitely am! by @jaredkamauu

After almost 5 years, this journey has finally come to an end. I wrote the first draft in 2021 and intended for it to be my Senior Capstone project. When that didn’t work out, I got some friends together and made it anyway.

And I think it’s pretty good.

“Tomorrow comes”

This year brought the opportunity to achieve so much I didn’t think possible. I couldn’t be more thankful to everyone who supported me, worked with me, and gave all of themselves to making this year so special. I couldn’t be more excited for what we can make in 2026. by @jaredkamauu

VSP is here to stay.

After closing Paper Weight, Vicariously Staged Productions (VSP) had planned to say goodbye, but the community had other plans.

Founder and CEO Jared Kamauu and Artistic Director Melanie Kamauu made the decision to stay after seeing the impact of Paper Weight. “It became extremely clear we were building something special,” Jared shared.

Also joined by Artistic Director Skyler Denfeld and Director of Performance Marketing and Communications Mari Joy, the newly expanded team is ready to begin a bold new chapter for VSP.

“But something in her makes me gentle. Makes me shy. Makes me strong. Makes me happy to be alive, and maybe that’s it. Maybe that’s what it really comes down to. She makes me. Makes me whole. She completes me.” - Amazing Spider-Man (vol. 2)
