This Sunday I am excited to Continue our series on Wisdom in our @wavenorfolk services. Charles Spurgeon once said “The Bible is not the light of the world, it is the light of the Church. But the world does not read the Bible, the world reads Christians! “You are the light of the world.” It is you that they look to for wisdom so it is imperative that we live wise…but how do we do that? What a Sunday in @wavenorfolk. After an incredible Wave Conference we had @teddycallen & @genesisallen1 back in the house! Before @alyssaklingmeyer & I embarked on this journey they were the pastors who loved our city & the church. We are so grateful for them & leaving this week encouraged! When Jesus says in Matthew 28 “take my yoke upon you & LEARN from me.” That statement has implications! Learning requires the humility to discover that I might be wrong & eventually if I am going to learn from Jesus, I will inevitably encounter something he says that confronts what I want to believe. AND THAT IS WHEN DISCIPLESHIP BEGINS!

You know what I love about Peter…even when he was passionately wrong…he was honest & whenever Jesus rebuked him…& Jesus rebuked him harshly, more than once…Peter humbly came back to the posture of worship.

So what does it mean to listen & learn from Jesus? It means when Jesus & culture disagree; I listen to Jesus. When Jesus & my feelings disagree; I listen to Jesus. When Jesus says something that’s difficult; I listen to Jesus. That’s what it means to take His yoke. If I’m going to walk with Jesus, I have to let Jesus have the final word in my life. taken in Wave Church Norfolk by @jaredklingmeyer

I ❤️ America!

For 250 years we’ve called it the great American experiment. But perhaps it was never an experiment at all…but the providence of God unfolding through imperfect people willing to risk everything for the cause of liberty.

56 men signed their names on a piece of parchment knowing it could cost them everything, yet their courage gave birth to a nation that people around the world still dream of calling home. & I’m SO grateful to be an American, to call her home, & I seek to pass on that love to my children. We must… in fact it’s a part of our calling. Otherwise they will think it just happened… but our forefathers sacrifices cries from the ground 🙏🏼

& maybe the greatest evidence of America’s beauty is even those who hate her get to do so in freedom.
