Coffee, Bible and journal ✨
-do not disturb-

Sitting beside a cracking creek,
from sunup to sundown,
I let the water carry
the thoughts I’ve spent years outrunning. I have no lover to call my own, no body beside me on cold nights, no hand to find my back when I’m not feeling right, no one waiting for this big old heart of mine.

And somehow- I’ve never felt more secure. Because this isn’t loneliness. This is peace. The kind of peace I think I’ve been searching for in every woman I’ve ever loved, trying to find in someone else what I was never willing to give myself. Now I have it. And nobody gets to fuck with it. I’m happy- inside my own head, comfortable in my own skin, standing strong in my own potential.

I know who I am. I know what I want. And God, does that feel different.
Almost frightening.
Im finding once you become at home with yourself, you stop inviting people in just because they knock. Perhaps I’m beginning to wonder who could ever be enough to fit into a life that no longer needs saving. Maybe no one. Maybe someone will. But I’m no longer afraid of either answer. Because peace is dangerous. I know this in having met a few lone wolves recently. Studies and admired, learned from them.

It makes you selective. It makes you whole. It teaches you that love is supposed to add to your life, not become the reason you have one. So for now, there’s a creek beside me, the sun going down, and a heart that finally belongs to the man carrying it.
