For over a decade, Jarrod and I have been the best of work friends. When he started showing me songs he was compiling for a potential record and asked if I would be interested in co-producing the album, it was an easy yes. I was deeply impressed by the material he was working with and immediately saw the vision of what he was wanting to bring to life.

After deciding on the right ensemble of instrumentation, we assembled a cast of stellar musicians who brought their own individual voices to this eclectic group of songs. The slinky steel guitar played by Spencer Cullum and gregarious groove of Jamie Dick’s drums are the common sonic thread and heartbeat that tie the project together and in my opinion bring cohesion to the diverse pieces that comprise Nighthawk. I remember Jarrod mentioning when he encountered this interesting term that ended up becoming the song title and subsequent album title. A “nighthawk” is a memory or thought that lingers and keeps you up at night. I’ve always been impressed by Jarrod’s ability to integrate thought provoking themes in his writing and I think Nighthawk as an album is a strong example of that skill. It’s a piece of art I’m proud to have a hand in and I’m stoked for Jarrod to have this instant classic debut album released into the wild. by @jarrodwalker

Just announced! I’m heading to St. Augustine on Saturday, September 5, for a free show at The Waterworks presented by Sing Out Loud Festival and St. Johns Cultural Council.
