Hi ich bin Jasmin 🌻
Gestalterin, Tanzlehrerin und angehende Kulturvermittlerin.

Ursprünglich aus Stuttgart, lebe und arbeite ich mittlerweile freiberuflich in Mannheim. Mein Weg führte mich über ein Bachelor-Studium der Visuellen Kommunikation, ein inspirierendes Auslandssemester in Seoul und beruflichen Erfahrungen im Branding zu einer vielseitigen freiberuflichen Tätigkeit.

Dabei spielte Tanz immer eine ebenso wichtige Rolle wie Gestaltung, denn Tanz begleitet mich schon mein ganzes Leben. Nach mehr als 10 Jahren Erfahrung als Tanzlehrerin habe ich 2023 gemeinsam mit Joelina Rietsche das Projekt Common Ground Intensive Training ins Leben gerufen: Event-Reihe & Trainingsraum mit viel Platz für Neugier, kreative Entfaltung und gegenseitige Inspiration.

Diese verschiedenen Erfahrungen haben mich dazu bewegt, im Master Kulturvermittlung meine Interessen weiter zu vereinen und neue Wege zu finden, um künstlerische Projekte mit gesellschaftlichem Mehrwert zu entwickeln und noch breiter zugänglich zu machen.

„Lost in Translation“ 🌙 – The feeling of being lost in a new city is something a lot of people can relate to. It takes some time to adapt to another culture. At first you might not understand the language, you’re not used to the eating habbits or tradtions and so on. The movie „lost in translation“ is about two strangers in a foreign land - both in the middle of a life crisis. For my visual communication class I picked that movie to visualize it in my own way.

The topics of the book are e.g. culture shock, loneliness or existential boredom and questions like „What can we do when life loses meaning“. It’s a mixture of film screen caputures, own photographs, film quotes and articles. It tries to to visualize the discomfort and the feeling of being lost in a new country by adapting the blurriness and the color, while trying to find the right motif. All of the b&w analog photos are made by me in Japan, Tokyo/Kyoto. Colored one’s are from the film „Lost in Translation“ – Sofia Coppola, 2003. As part of my master’s program, I completed my internship—and being able to do it at a place where dance, organization, communication & culture intersect was extremely valuable! Thank you, Laura and Michelle, for the truly exciting and diverse experiences and inspiration I was able to collect. 💌

It reaffirmed that it’s sometimes worth adapting your career path if it doesn't feel right (yet). Now I’m off to write my master’s thesis...

RESEARCH // Distorted bodies - How do freelance dancers experience the tension between analog movement and digital visibility?

As many of you know, I work not only in the field of design, but also in dance. With my current master's degree program, I want to combine these different fields and do interdisciplinary research. And during the first semester, we had to write a term paper.

So what was the aim of my paper? To analyze how the perception of dance changes when a physical art form is transferred into the digital-visual space. In doing so, the challenges and structural problems arising from the increasing dependence on digital platforms for dance professionals are highlighted. The focus is on the tension between artistic authenticity, physicality, and the demands of digital self-presentation. These topics are not only theoretical concepts, but also real experiences that I myself have been experiencing for years as a dancer, choreographer, and dance teacher, and which I observe in my professional environment.

A topic that interests me greatly, combines many fields, and will definitely be explored further 🌸

A throwback to 2023, when I had the pleasure of helping @raphygraphie with the layout of her “family album” as part of her master’s degree in photography. The goal was a simple, clean & quick layout which provides a framework for the photos and thesis 📸

Almost forgot about this project. Time flies. It’s just wonderful to see what you’ve achieved with all your hard work. You go girl. Keep glowing. 🪄
