Grateful for my girl, Koko @roseonheart .
Always introducing me to amazing art! Although I wish my copy had you as the covergirl! 💋❤️‍🔥
WET by Meg Turner. This much-anticipated photo book contains a series of 45 tintype portraits created between New Orleans and New York City from 2014-2022. The images convey joy, fierceness, vulnerability, and an uncompromising gaze while exploding the notion that rest and security are deserved only after a lifetime of work. Drawing deeply from traditions of fashion and advertising, Meg Turner invites her colleagues to re-imagine symbols of power, gender, sex, and wealth that seduce us into cycles of consumption and labor. by @jasmin_bode

LISTEN TO ME!
A tintype series of Iowa transgender folks
By @ramin_roshandel

“The work presented here centers on visibility, presence, and voice. I invited a group of trans individuals from Iowa to participate in a collaborative portrait project using the wet plate collodion process—an early photographic technique that requires stillness, care, and time. Each participant received a 5x7” photograph as a gift, while their 8x10 portraits anchor this exhibition.
Accompanying the images is a layered soundscape composed of audio recordings contributed by each participant. I invited them to bring a poem, a story, a conversation, or any expression they wished to share. Together, these voices and images stand in quiet but firm resistance—asserting humanity in the face of erasure. “ - Ramin Roshandel
This exhibition emerges in response to an act that occurred on February 28, 2025, when Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds signed a bill removing gender identity from the Iowa Civil Rights Act. Set to take effect on July 1, the law will strip transgender Iowans of state-level protections against discrimination in housing, employment, public spaces, and beyond. taken in Fairfield, Iowa by @jasmin_bode

In the summer of 2024, I had the pleasure of sitting for a tintype portrait by Ramin Roshandel. @ramin_roshandel

Tintype portrait description: Collodion Wet Plate Process is a photography technique that started in the 19th century. Besides their unique aesthetics, wet plates are special because they are archival and can hold onto your beautiful memories for generations. Wet plates could be done on different materials including glass, metal plates like aluminum, steel, or iron, acrylic sheets or other materials.

Thank you, Ramin. This me feels like long ago, for many reasons. 🖤 by @jasmin_bode
