Final day of Ramadan today. Hoping and praying we see the next one, and looking forward to making this Eid as joyous as it should be.

We’d like to take this opportunity to thank our incredibly supportive suppliers (who we consider our partners and our friends) and customers for their trust and loyalty, and @allthatsjazzie for such beautiful artwork for our Eid greeting card, depicting not just how the moon changes through the month, but also how different schools of tea like varying amounts of foam on their matcha.

Which matcha will you reach for on Eid morning? :) 🍵 by @jasminmampilli

Recent textile pattern work for a contemporary womenswear’s label in Qatar 🇶🇦. We deconstructed the Mashrabiya pattern and isolated the stars to form a more delicate - almost floral like repeat print for these silk based Kaftans.

I remember the day I walked into @discovermaknoon ‘s first activation ever at @ykone.me .
I remember the joy in Hanan - the founders eyes.
I remember the nostalgic stories shared about Levantine culture.
I remember warmth, flavors and a community coming together.
Which is why 5 years later we’re collaborating on a little something, stay tuned to find out✨ by @jasminmampilli

I recently came across my first set of surface pattern prints from freshman year and I couldn’t help but cringe. From trying to understand the process in design school to slowly learning how to compose the art, it’s an ongoing journey but one of the best kinds 🥹 by @jasminmampilli

Last month we got to experience one of our dear family friends get married and it was a major Déjà vu moment for me. When I recorded the first video at the @sharjahmuseums while trying to study the Emirati wedding traditions for a project, I thought to myself “how beautiful would it be to experience this in person”. A couple of months later? I’m sitting there in person and literally experiencing the beat of the drums and magic of Al Ayala🥁.

One of the most memorable moments during my trip to Bangkok was photographing these beautiful surfaces filled with story, presence and culture. I remember standing and staring at them in awe as id only seen these in coffee table books and editorial magazines. There’s just something about Southeast Asian ornamentation that just hits differently 🎨 by @jasminmampilli

A little piece of Singapore recreated at home this Mid Autumn festival featuring my favorite Anxi Tie Guan Yin Oolong from @haiyatea 🫖, a set of beautiful artisanal Snowskin Mooncakes from @hiakfan 🥮 and a Peranakan inspired pattern from one of my new collections🎨.

As I stood there waiting for him to set up the tawa for the regag, two little girls walked in their pyjamas, giggling and ready to spend their pocket money.
Definitely from around the freej (neighborhood)— they kept calling him over. On the fifth time they finally asked “Bkum haada” (how much is this?).
He did the math and a few pieces of candy were put back on the shelf. Clearly gone over budget.
And as I watched them pay in notes and coins with this new found finance. No smart watch, no Apple Pay. It made me realize, that warmth at the Regaag shop was something Café culture couldn’t touch ✨

The other day I was scrolling and came across an ad for this striking crystal clutch—and I had to pause.

As a surface pattern designer who works with cultural inspiration, i do my best to look into different contexts—so it design can be celebrated with intention and intent for my clients.

This study reminded me how material choices and cultural awareness make all the difference because true appreciation comes from understanding first ✨

What makes a surface unforgettable?
All the details that are present when you observe closely. In the world of surface pattern design, it is the patterns, embroidery, embellishments and artwork that bring the medium to life. And as a surface pattern designer, my work lives in this intersection. Where I study how heritage in the three cultures I’ve grown up with ( 🇦🇪 🇮🇳 🇸🇬) can be translated to contemporary designs for the present silhouettes.
It’s not just another piece of fabric or jewelry- it’s a story that has been written into the material ✨
