NYC MARATHON PEAK WEEK 🗽🏃🏾‍♀️

20 MILES. DONE! My longest distance EVER!

This run was all about testing out my shorts, new shoes, and fuel. Safe to say, throw the shorts and shoes away!!!! 😂😂 JK, but no seriously… I might need to switch shoes, and these shorts were a little too tight. I mean, I like tight, but they were NOT trying to let my belly breathe! And the belly needs to breathe after all them carbs. 😭😂

I hit a wall somewhere between miles 15-17, but I pushed through and finished STRONG! 💪🏾 Every long run is teaching me something, and aside from dying, I’m learning a lot out here!

I’m STILL fundraising toward my $4,000 goal for sarcoidosis research! If you’ve been meaning to donate, this is your sign. Every dollar helps support research for a disease that has impacted my family personally.

Happy Birthday to my beautiful sister. 💜

If you know my sister, you know she is BEYOND beautiful! She loves to look good, she keeps herself together, and somehow, even through everything her body has put her through, she continues to show up looking like that girl. 🤏🏾

But what you may not see behind the beauty are the hospital rooms, doctor’s appointments, procedures, medications, long days, hard conversations, and moments when her body has demanded more from her than anyone should have to endure.

She is the true definition of not looking like what you’ve been through.

These pictures tell a story that a pretty selfie never could. And the first video? This is us on her today on her BIRTHDAY, headed to the hospital for yet another heart procedure. Because life doesn’t always pause just because it’s your birthday.

And still… she keeps going.

So today, on her birthday, I celebrate more than her beauty. I celebrate her strength, her resilience, her courage, and her ability to keep showing up.

Happy Birthday, sis.

I love you more than you know. And while you’re in there handling business today, just know your little sister is out here training to run 26.2 miles with you on my heart every step of the way.

I pray you never forget just how strong you are.

The truth is, Sarcoidosis can affect almost any organ in the body. While the lungs are the most commonly affected, it can also impact the heart, brain and nervous system, eyes, skin, joints, liver, kidneys, lymph nodes, and more.

Two people can have the same disease and have completely different symptoms depending on which organs are affected.

Over the next few days, I’m going to take a closer look at how sarcoidosis can affect different parts of the body because awareness starts with understanding.
