The right photo was taken during my second Full-Marathon and weighed 160 lbs. Ten years ago, I graduated from College and got hired as a Seasonal Night Auditor at the Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach. At the time, I didn’t have a car yet and I was living 45 minutes away from work. I would take a $60 Uber (one-way) each night just to get to work. After each shift, instead of spending money on another Uber to go home and then paying again to return later that evening, I would walk to the Huntington Beach pier (pictured) which was about a mile away from work just to sleep under it for a few hours. Once I woke up, I would spend the day in the area until it was time for my next shift that same evening at 11pm. I did this for about a month until I saved enough money to get a car. Fast forward to today, I’m back at the very same Hotel where I started my Hyatt career and in a different role. I share this story in hopes of inspiring the next generation to keep believing in themselves and to chase their dreams relentlessly. Your journey may start with sacrifice, but it can lead you somewhere you never imagined if you refuse to give up. Thank you @hyatt for an amazing 10 years! Not the outcome we wanted today…By approximately the 20.5 mile mark, we were holding an average pace of 7:32/mile and had less than 6 miles to go before finishing the marathon. However at this time, my body collapsed and I blacked out for a split second but regained consciousness so that I was able to brace the fall. I was taken in an ambulance to get my vitals checked and thankfully everything was okay. Given this, I thought it would be best to simply remove myself from the race and live to see another day. Just grateful to be alive today! 🙏 Congrats to all the Finishers today! I’m so proud of you all! 🥹#blessed #chicagomaraton #redemptioncomingsoon by @jasongguan
