The week before Labor Day we made a wonderful trip to Niagara Falls. We toured the Niagara Parks Power Station and the Tunnel.

Found this old paystub with ants taped to it, from LAIKA while I was working as a set designer on Coraline. Dated Feb 2008, so not Halloween ... but everyday is Halloween on a film like that. Coraline is back in theaters Aug 15, for its 15 year anniversary, remastered 3d.

For Christmas last year my sister Jennifer @jlajka got me a Commodore 128. I had one growing up, but haven't used one in 30+ years. Over the last 10 years-or-so I've had a resurgence in interest in 8-bit computers, and I especially missed my Commodore. (I also had a VIC 20.) I was super surprised and touched Jennifer got this for me, a really special gift. I bought a new power supply (missing, but I read it's best to buy a new one anyway). Robert @pleung_group helped me open it up and inspect for any internal damage, leaks, etc. I was a bit nervous about plugging it in and turning it on, being a 37 year old computer. Bought a few new video cables, not really knowing what contemporary tv / monitor was going to work, if any. With just a little trial-and-error, it turned on! So amazing to see that green-bordered screen, all 122365 bytes free. Now does anyone have a copy of The Bard's Tale or Ultima IV? #commodore #commodore128 by @jasonlajka

HEAT WARNING, you might die. Early July, "hiking" in Valley of Fire State Park. We weren't really hiking, more like running out of the car, taking some pictures, running back into the car, and drinking lots of water. taken in Valley of Fire State Park by @jasonlajka
