To say “thank you, God” is not enough.

Four years ago, I moved away to college, wanting nothing more than to start my life of freedom. Yet I quickly found that the things the world portrayed as freedom were really chains of bondage in disguise. I was bound by my constant desire for approval from others, leading to ongoing battles between what I knew was right and what everyone else was doing. Over and over again, I chose to follow the world and give in to my own desires, until my decisions landed me in a pit. I found myself in a place of loneliness, feeling nothing but anger, guilt, and, most of all, confusion. Relationships were broken, trust was gone, and worst of all, I felt a shame I had never experienced before.

But when I thought all was lost, God, You came and filled the void. You overwhelmed me with Your peace, giving me the courage to get up every day. You showered me with love, helping me give myself grace for all the mistakes I had made. You comforted me in my pain, reminding me that it would soon turn into joy. Even at my worst, You gave me Your best, and for that, I will forever praise You. My life is a living testimony of Your grace and mercy, which I will continue to share with the world for the rest of my life.

Though words will never be enough, God, I say thank You. Thank You for never giving up on me. Thank You for showing me there was a better way. Most importantly, thank You for all the blessings You have graciously poured over me these last four years. While this chapter is closing, I look forward to what’s next, knowing that You will be by my side. Lord, I love You—my heart forever belongs to You. ❤️ by @jasss.patrick
