Saah Karim, the Lyrical Warrior from Senegambia, steps forward once again with “Children” — a conscious roots-inspired tune carrying a message that is impossible to ignore.

With his unmistakable lyrical style, Saah Karim speaks on the violence, suffering and atrocities that children continue to face around the world. The ones who should be protected the most are often the ones left most vulnerable. Children are our future, and their safety, dignity and well-being should never be taken for granted.

Azizzi Romeo (JA) 9/10 - Heavy bass, living roots and a voice carrying both a legacy and a future. On October 9, Azizzi Romeo comes to Nefertiti, with Walshy Fire of Major Lazer as executive producer and some of our absolute favourite musicians in the band.

Raised in Linstead, Jamaica, Azizzi grew up with roots reggae as his mother tongue and legendary “Chase the Devil” singer Max Romeo as his father. He first took the mic alongside his brother at eight, later touring internationally with Max before developing his own sound: conscious roots blended with electronic influences and personal reflections.

On “Signs of the Time”, recorded with Guiding Star Orchestra, he calls for peace and unity in a world on fire. The spirit of ’70s roots remains strong, while the music looks forward. The track also features Max Romeo in one of his final recordings – a deeply moving meeting between generations.

The band includes Danish duo Bremer/McCoy, who together with Steven Jess Borth II are also part of The Mighty Tiny & The Many Few and I Am An Instrument – two acts especially close to our hearts, whose records often spin in our Jazz Kissa bar before concerts.

Now we meet them in a new setting, with Azizzi Romeo’s voice at the centre and Jamaica’s roots tradition as the foundation.

Being the son of a legend comes with expectations. Recording with him makes them even bigger.

Max Romeo R.I.P. 🕊️was 80 when this was recorded, he sounds great.

But Azizi doesn’t hide in his father’s shadow. He brings his own style, flow and character, and the two sound completely natural together.

The riddim? Pure roots, with a nice taste of 70s Bunny Lee production.

A beautiful piece of reggae across two generations. 🇯🇲🎶
