I had an idea a few months ago. The idea was to re-imagine a classic Christmas poem in a way befitting the times we are living (or at the very least surviving in). In the year 2020, many of us have experienced life changes. Events far out of our control meant losses that will continue to plague us and our families forever. We may never look at each other or see world events in the same way again. What did I do you may ask? I slid into the comforting darkness of my booth and spent hours working on a fitting delivery of the classic “Twas the night before Christmas” poem. After recording countless vastly different versions, I spent the next days listening to them and realised that I had it wrong in every case! This world has been turned upside down by self serving and shortsighted “leaders” and poor management of global crisis! This year Christmas has all but been cancelled. I went back and just let it out. I spoke from the light though it was darkness that Christmas is fighting this year. I was happy with the result. My next step was to see who would help me by composing the sound track to this classic. Knowing that it would exist eternally in the digital and analogue world, I was hoping with fingers crossed that an ambient artist with his soul connected to the analogue world would help. I had one artist in mind. The world is full of truly talented people that are expressing beautiful things during lockdown. Time is both a precious and illusive commodity in our lives. In the pandemic, love it or hate it, time is something we are blessed with. Enter OORA. I approached New York ambient music producer Federico Chiesa of “OORA” with the idea fully expecting him to tell me to take a flying leap!! I was super happy that he agreed to work with me on making this a reality. LINK IN BIO for full download PLUS hand cut vinyl limited addition art by yours truly available. Is art ever finished? That is what people usually ask themselves. But what crosses my mind is when does it actually begin? @pinotandpicassoshoreditch by @jatero
Painting a thought in this cool spot in Shoreditch U.K. I have not picked up a paint brush in a long while. Ha!! I will continue this painting tomorrow in this awesome creative space. Pinot & Picasso Shoreditch #samsung #fold #flip #London #art #artist #pinotandpiccaso by @jatero
It was the first big snow storm in the winter of 1990.. Wow my first "real" snowboard 🏂 16 year old me. I was super Proud of working so many hours with my part time job to order my snowboard from a shop in Denver, Colorado. I was super excited. Thinking I got such a great deal until the snowboard showed up at my front door and the mail man asked me to pay another fee on the spot. I was lucky that I had a little bit of money saved up to pay the extra $150.00, dollars hehehe. I was super happy and I went out more than forty days that season to ride and by March break 1991 had my level 1 instructor certification. British Colombia was my favourite place where I would ride at Cyprus bowl, Black Comb and whistler but I also rode a lot at Blue mountain, horseshoe valley and Mt St Louis moonstone which was where my school ski trips had us most. In europe i loved riding at Filsmoos in Austria. There were very few snowboarders on the mountains at that time with a few mountains not allowing snowboarding. I was often that odd one who ended up with a ski rental as I had my crew of skiiers I went out with. #burtonair #snowboarder #snowboarding #whistlerblackcomb by @jatero
