NOT THIS MAN DOING A DRIVE-BY PAST MY BEDROOM WINDOW ON HIS LAWNMOWER. 😭😂

I specifically told my dad, “My back hurts. I’m not participating in your shenanigans today.”

He said okay.

Apparently “okay” meant: just charge the battery and mind your business. 😭

So there I was, laying in bed doing EXACTLY that…when I hear the mower getting louder and louder.

I look out my window and HERE HE COME. 😂

75 lyears old. Marine. Fully unsupervised. Living his absolute best life.

At this point, I’m not his caregiver. I’m just the unwilling camera crew for whatever he decides to do next. 😂🤦🏾‍♀️

My dad is back at it again, y’all. 😭😂

This man ordered himself a riding lawn mower fully expecting it to be delivered ready for him to hop on and ride off into the sunset. 😂

Imagine his face when it showed up… IN A CRATE.

Then the delivery guys hit him with, “We don’t unpack it.”

Now see… they didn’t know my dad. 😭

Because a 75 year-old retired Marine does not hear “we don’t do that.”

Apparently what he heard was: “Looks like a job for me.” 😂🤦🏽‍♀️

So naturally, before I knew it, Mr. “I GOT IT” is outside trying to free an entire riding lawn mower from its packaging by himself.

Sir. 😐

And this is pretty much how caregiving goes with my dad. I’m never there in time to prevent the shenanigans. 😂 I just happen to look up, realize what he’s gotten himself into THIS time, yell “DAS!!!” and go help before he turns it into a full-blown Marine Corps operation.

Because one thing about my dad… he is going to remain independent for as long as he possibly can. ❤️

And as much as he drives me crazy, I understand what that independence means to him.

So we got that mower unpacked together… although I’m sure if you ask him, he’ll tell you he had it handled. 🙄😂❤️

Wouldn’t trade these moments for anything.

Some days, I rock motherhood , other days it rocks me. Somewhere in between caregiving, running endless errands, keeping appointments straight, meeting everyone’s needs, and trying not to lose myself in the process, I am met with gratitude. Today my responsibilities felt heavy—but then I stepped back and was able to see the full-circle beauty in it.

Living in a multigenerational home means my children aren’t just hearing me talk about love, patience, sacrifice, and family—they’re watching us live it. They’re growing up surrounded by their roots, grounded by the wisdom of an older generation, and learning that family takes care of family.

It isn’t always easy, but there is something sacred about raising my children while caring for the person who once cared for me. In the middle of all the running, serving, and showing up, we’re building something deeper than a home—we’re building connection, resilience, and memories that will carry my children for a lifetime. 🤎 #caregiver #marine #multigenerationalliving #lowes #craftsmanship by @javanasara.b

POV: You’re the caregiver to a Marine who has syncope and has been specifically told NOT to bend down… but apparently changing the dryer plug is a matter of national security. 😭🇺🇸

“Dad, PLEASE get up.”

Him: “I got it.”

Sir. Respectfully. YOU DO NOT GOT IT. 😭🎷🎷🎷

The saxophone is getting louder…

NGL he in fact did HAVE it but I intervened of course. I wasn’t trying to spend my Sunday at the VA hospital. He is the epitome of “Want something done do it yourself” 🥴 by @javanasara.b

There’s something so tender about caring for the things my mom once cared for. 🪴🤍

Now, when I water her plants, trim their leaves, and watch them continue to grow, it feels like I’m taking care of a little piece of her. These plants were touched by her hands, lived in her space, and were part of her everyday life. Now they’re part of mine.

Grief has taught me that love doesn’t disappear when someone leaves us. It just finds new places to live. Sometimes it’s in a memory, a song, a familiar scent… and sometimes, it’s in new leaves reaching toward the sun.

So I’ll keep watering them. Keep nurturing them. Keep watching something she loved continue to bloom. 🌱🪴

A little piece of you is still growing here, Mom. And I’ll take care of it for you. ❤️ by @javanasara.b

Sometimes the change of plans is the plan. 🤎✨ Dad had a doctors appointment but transportation never showed, so we seized the day instead—lunch with Dad, a few errands, quality time together, and made it back home just before the storm rolled in. ⛈️🙏🏽. Thanks to the best big brother for lunch today! Grateful for the unexpected moments that turn into memories. ❤️ #caregiver #veteranstories #marine #dadanddaughter by @javanasara.b

Lately, I’ve just been sitting in gratitude. Not because life has been easy, but because when I look back over everything I’ve carried, I know it was God carrying me. 🤍

Solo parenting. Trying every day to raise kind, respectful, well-rounded children while still figuring life out myself. The teenage years and the spats that have tested every ounce of my patience 😩😂. Being a caregiver and pouring into the people I love, even on days when my own cup felt empty. And grief… learning how to keep living, smiling, mothering, dreaming, and moving forward while missing someone I would give anything to have here.

There have been moments I didn’t know how I was going to do it all. Moments I was tired mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually. Moments when staying focused felt almost impossible.

But God. 🙏🏽

God kept me when I felt like I was barely keeping myself together. He gave me strength for days I didn’t think I had strength for. He kept opening doors, sending blessings, teaching me lessons, correcting me, stretching me, and reminding me that even the hardest seasons can produce growth.

I’m proud of the woman I’m becoming. Not because I’ve done everything perfectly—I definitely haven’t—but because I kept going. I kept loving my babies. I kept showing up for my family. I kept trying. I kept praying. I kept believing that there was still something beautiful ahead of me.

And somehow, through the grief, the parenting challenges, the caregiving, the disappointments, the changes, and all the things I don’t post about… God has still given me so much to be thankful for.

The blessings feel different when you know what it took to get here. 🥹

So this chapter is simply: Thank you, God.
For carrying me.
For covering my children.
For the lessons.
For the growth.
For the blessings I prayed for and the ones I never saw coming.
For giving me the ability to stay focused when life gave me every reason to lose focus.

I may not be where I’m going yet, but when I look at where God has brought me from… all I can say is THANK YOU. 🙏🏽🤎

Still growing. Still healing. Still becoming. Still blessed. by @javanasara.b

Some people get birthdays.

Some people get milestones.

But 75 years… that’s GOLDEN. 🥹💛

Watching my dad walk into his new home, completely surrounded by the people who love him, is a moment I’ll carry with me forever.

After losing my mom this year, celebrating him felt even more meaningful. It was a reminder that while life changes in ways we never expect, God still gives us moments to pause… to celebrate, to embrace one another, and to give thanks for the people we still get to love out loud.

Golden at 75 wasn’t just a theme.

It was a celebration of LIFE. A celebration of strength, sacrifice, wisdom, resilience, unwavering faith, and a legacy that continues through all of us.

Dad, thank you for being STEADY. Thank you for loving us so well. Thank you for showing us what perseverance, integrity, and quiet strength look like.

And to every single person who came—especially with such little notice—thank you. You helped create one of the sweetest memories our family will ever hold close.

Happy 75th Birthday, Daddy. What a gift it is that we still get to celebrate you.

Here’s to your golden years… and to many, many more.

We love you more than words could ever say. 💛✨🏆
