To say spending the last couple of weeks globetrotting to Bali and Taipei was amazing would be an understatement. I never would have imagined making this trip, and I’m so glad I did!

But the biggest reason this trip mattered had nothing to do with the travel itself. It was a reset. (Long post incoming.)

The past few months have been tougher than I’ve let on. At the end of last year, I was asked to relocate to Charlotte, North Carolina to keep the role I’ve held (and loved) for the past five years. For a plethora of reasons, I decided not to make that move, which means that as of my last day at the end of February, I’m navigating a job search for the first time in a while… in a pretty uncertain market, and without something already lined up.

It’s been a weird mix of grief, uncertainty, and pretending everything was fine. But this trip gave me the space to step back and realize it’s OK not to be OK with all of that.

Though I got to spend time with some folks I love and we did some amazing things while abroad, I also spent a lot of time reflecting. Taking stock of what’s gone right in life so far, what hasn’t, and what direction I want to head next.

Now that I’m back, I think I have a straightforward plan I can commit to: set myself up to land in a role I’m just as excited about as the last one, get my physical and mental health back on track after letting both slip these past few months, and reconnect with people I drifted away from while navigating this. Here’s to me being able to make it happen!

Partie Un: NOLA was an absolute blast. Nonstop fun, standout people, and a whole week celebrating @adventurengretchen with the crew that loves her hardest. Couldn’t ask for more. ⚜️✨

Loved getting time with old friends and finally meeting some new ones, easily the best part of the whole trip. Happiest birthday, Gretchen! 💛

🖤 MAYHEM BALL 2025 🖤

Just about 15 years ago, I saw @ladygaga for the first time as a closeted gay kid who didn’t know how to be in this world. Last night, I saw her again, as a confident, proud man who’s been shaped in so many ways by her artistry and heart.

She’s been a key piece of the soundtrack to my growth, my courage, my joy. Seeing her live this time was just as magical as the last, and I hope as magical as the next time whenever that will be. Like she said during the show, some of us have been here 20 years, and we’ll still be here singing and dancing 20 years from now.

Going through over sixty years of love and memories in the house I grew up in has been surreal. Since getting down here last Friday, I’ve laughed, cried, and felt just about every emotion in between.

My grandparents were the best anyone could have ever asked for, and I know so many of my family and friends who knew and loved them would agree tenfold. Going through box after box of things my grandma saved, pieces of my life, my mom’s life, and even generations beyond us has been incredibly healing to see. It’s reminded me just how deeply loved we all were.

At the same time, I miss them like crazy. And walking through the house now, thinking of seeing them in their usual spots around the corner and them not being there, knowing we’re preparing to put it on the market, feels like the end of an era.

Today will likely be my last time seeing the house in person while it’s still in the family. My last night sleeping in my childhood bedroom. My last shower here. My last time grabbing a glass of water from their fridge. All the little everyday things you wouldn’t normally think about, they’re all glowing in my mind right now.

I’m going to miss this house so much. But the memories? Those are staying with me for a very, very long time. 🤍 taken in Fairfax, California by @jawshatomz
