Either way, Mexican-owned roaster in San Diego. If you are in LA you can probably pick some up from @flo.coffeebar or @hooked.venice

I looooove branching out from the common big names and finding a winner.

Good news…I got a new grinder😀

Timemore 064s. This is my first ever major grinder upgrade (thanks prime day for the final nudge). I have used the OXO Burr Grinder for 7 years and the Baratza Encore ESP for espresso for the last 2. They have both served me so so well. If you want an affordable electric solution for filter coffee…snag the OXO.

Can’t wait to really get this thing going!! Hopefully it’ll last another many years to come.

Look out got some STUNNERS coming your way

Very blessed to have tried 71 new cafes already in 2026. Here are 5 of the best.

Not all of these are the top shelf for all the exact same reasons. (For example if you want a lot of seating, thank you thank you is not the spot haha)

The shot I had at @arcaneestatecoffee was probably one of the top 3 I’ve ever had

Sooooo much to catch up on, but starting here with @onecedar.la in Santa Monica

This spot was an absolute winner. Vic was extremely hospitable. Coffee line (@unity.coffee @kickbackcoffeeroasters @hydrangeacoffeeroaster and others) was top tier.

And of course, the cappuccinos were excellent. Perfect temp, silky smooth, with a nice traditional taste.

They are less than 1 year old so may not be on your radar yet but don’t sleep on em if you make it to LA!! by @jaxcoffeebook

Was lucky to have 2 top tier coffee experiences last week

First is @reunioncoffeee in Greenville, SC. This was totally unexpected, but everything was first class (other than the fact that it’s physically tiny). Got to try @obadiahcoffeeroasters brewed by @parkerbeachy on both filter and a flat white, both he brewed perfectly. A natural Rwandan that exploded with plum and was so full of flavor. Hospitality and coffee were both 10/10.

The other was @hexcoffee @hex.clt in Charlotte, NC. Hex is a fairly hyped up roaster and it did not disappoint. Forgot to record which bean (I think the function blend) but had a perfectly creamy and temperatured flat white. The barista also struck the balance of trying to educate while not coming off snooty. And a large, beautifully crafted space.

If I tier listed every cafe I’ve been to, it would be hard to not put both of these S-tier! by @jaxcoffeebook

DRINK BETTER COFFEE

Here’s some recommendations for better coffee to brew at home. These will all be US based roasters since shipping from overseas right now is just too expensive. Some of these roasters offer multiple price levels.

Great Blends to Save the Most: @metriccoffee @mammothcoffee.co
- both of these roasters offer blends to keep the price down but the quality high. Hugely recommend!

Best Bang for Buck: @blackwhiteroasters
- Offer 12oz bags of all kinds of price levels. Always high quality. Lots of variety

Getting Up There: @getprodigalcoffee @enjoycoffeeroasters @ilsecoffee
- Quality driven roasters where the price begins to creep up, but not outrageous (although may offer some high priced special options). Always worth the price.

High Priced Small Bag Coffees: @seycoffee
- roasters like SEY typically only have high priced offerings. Lightly roasted expressive coffees.

Check out any of these and I promise you won’t be disappointed. Of course, it will always vary bean to bean and roast to roast. Be sure to check the size of the bag to get a gauge on price! by @jaxcoffeebook

Had a quick, 2hr coffee tour in Wilmington, NC a couple weeks ago—man was I pleased!! Like genuinely impressed with what they had to offer!

@mavencoffee_co @casablancacoffeeroasters @socialcoffeesupply all had some great stuff to offer. For the size of the city (~120k pop.) there is a lot of great options to try! What’s also crazy is there were multiple spots I didn’t even get to!

Maven is definitely for the top-tier connoisseurs, with rare varieties and competition level coffees.

Casablanca had me worried it was style over substance, but that was definitely not the case. Rare you find a cafe that can do both.

Social an all around great place with good coffee and lots of seating in a cool venue.
