Pride ’26: This weekend, we brought together the people who loved us first for a tasting of our wedding menu and cake. What felt like a planning milestone became something much sweeter: two families becoming one.

Our grandmothers, who will proudly give us away.
Our mothers, who have loved us from the very beginning.
Our aunts, whose guidance, prayers, and support helped shape us into the men we are today.

This Pride, we’re celebrating the blessing of two supportive Southern families, rooted in faith and love, coming together for our forever.

2025 marks the end of an impactful era in my 10 years in Education. When the school building opens in January, I will not be waiting there to greet students and parents, hear stories from the holiday season, reset the culture, and all the things that come with being on the ground in a school community. I am officially transitioning from school building leadership. 🫶🏾

As an International Baccalaureate Teacher, Instructional Assistant Principal, Principal-in-Residence, and Founding Principal, my philosophy has remained to serve communities in a way that encourages students to be audacious enough to appreciate their journey, dream big, and follow it. From Cambridge/Boston to Atlanta, Los Angeles, and everywhere in between, we have achieved so much together for over 2150 students.

Founding Encore Arts & Media College Prep has been a dream-turned-reality. We have actualized an innovative concept from paper, to slide deck, to spreadsheet(s), to excellence personified in the East LA community. Our students now have the opportunity to embrace Los Angeles as the entertainment capital of the world.

I have been blessed with mentors and supervisors who have supported me throughout the first 10 years of my career. They’ve guided me, pushed me, and coached me through my journey. I am especially blessed to have had Assistant Superintendent Curtis Douglass (no IG) and Chief of Schools @machybrid as both coaches and mentors as I’ve developed as a leader. There’s a special art of Black men developing Black men professionally, and that privilege has made all the difference for me.

What’s next for me? I am super excited to announce and embrace my next step professionally; however, this moment deserves its rightful place in my time capsule. 😇

For Encore? I have left Encore in wonderful hands. The team we’ve built in conjunction with the network’s support team are poised to ensure that Encore remains Encore, and it expands as a powerhouse of creatives. With heart and soul, Encore is, and Encore forever will be. 🧡

Thank you for the memories and the impact we’ve made together. Thank you for trusting me.
