Do you know how to efficiently write about art? Are your artist's statements or your press releases convincing enough so that the art world will admire the profoundness of your thought and the complexity of your creative mind? Or is your writing old fashioned, straight to the point and lacking the very elements that could make it appealing to contemporary audiences worldwide? Do not hesitate any longer, take this useful test and you will finally know where you stand or -in case you are still out of touch with the times- where you should be standing. In other words: are you dead or alive? Dare to assess it!

Take it and rapidly identify your expressive whereabouts⚡️

The Posttraumatic was created because reading a newspaper at a bar is a pleasure. It’s a pleasure that, after five minutes, turns into anger and depression when you realize that the world is, at the very least, a complete disaster. Out of the depressive exhaustion caused by reading a conventional newspaper, we decided to propose an alternative.
In The Posttraumatic you’ll find all the usual newspaper sections — International, Society, Sports, Obituaries, the weather… — but the content is created by artists. Conceptual artists who move between acid humor, irony, philosophical/political reflection, and the absurd. A mixed fruit salad of strange interpretations with the aim of reflecting on how we consume and transmit information.

Last August through October I had the pleasure of taking part in the group exhibition Rumor Has It, at @marytwo.one in Luzern where Sylvia P Greenwood did a Lecture performance on the renowned artist Rafael Alcampo.

Curators on Artists series: Sylvia P. Greenwood on Rafael Alcampo, deals with the limits, weaknesses and debatable aspects belonging to the dominating discourse in the world of contemporary art. In doing so, the performance delves especially into the language that upholds this discourse, the so-called International Art English (IAE), skillfully treading the flimsy frontier between reality and fiction.
The performance uses real fragments from press releases, artists statements and articles arranged in such a way that their hollowness becomes apparent without signaling it in any obvious way. The format of a typical lecture on an artist helps creating a container that adds an element of tension to the whole by subverting the very model it is based on and challenging its authority from the inside.

Joana Maria’s @jay.mpf diploma work is entitled “Lecture on Rafael Alcampo by Sylvia P. Greenwood” and explores the limits and debatable aspects of the contemporary art discourse.
As part of the MA Fine Arts diploma exhibition ‘All Dimensions’, there will be two performances by Joana: ☞ TODAY during the vernissage at 6pm, and on 14 June at 3pm - you can find the work in room 3.E08 of the Toni-Areal @zhdkcampus. 💘

„All Dimensions“, our 2025 Master Fine Arts Diploma Exhibition, unfolds as both an assembly of individual artistic inquiries and a collective engagement with the conditions of exhibition-making itself. Presenting the work of thirty-one graduates, it foregrounds not only the multiplicity of their practices but also the educational structures – critiques, studio work, seminars, readings, and so on – that engendered the works on display. Set within the institutional and architectural context of the Toni-Areal, the exhibition also reflects the entangled paratextual systems – administrative, economic, political, social – that inform art education and production today. Against this backdrop, the show’s title resists the neatness of a unifying theme but instead puts forward a proposition: that art is never just one thing, and exhibitions never offer only one reading. It’s about all dimensions.
