ITS HEREEEE our performance for the season 14 ECG finals!

We took home second place with this performance and can not be more proud of all the hard work we put into this project. It has been an honor to have the privilege of performing this skit as it was always intended on one of the world's biggest stages along side so many talented cosplayers from around the world!

We want to thank everyone who's been supporting our journey all the way from our regional qualifiers at ALA, to the ECG preliminaries at Holmat, all the way to the finals at Japan Expo! Especially a big shout out to @tiramusoo and @escape_cos for being our biggest helpers and cheerleaders in the audience at these finals and @binkxy for being the best con mom we could ever ask for.

And the absolute BIGGEST shout out to @obey__jez who provided the AMAZING voice acting for our skit. The quality of our media would have been nothing without him and we are so greatful to have someone so talented to provide such a passionate performance that made our skit as captivating as it was!

I must also tell everyone to go support ALL the amazing competitors as well. What truly made this experience was how absolutely kind and welcoming everyone was. The support and new friendships we built through this experience made all of it worth it and it was an absolute honor to share a stage with such talented craftsmen and performers so please go watch everyone's performances and give them your love 🫶

Sappy ah post time~

It has been such a journey since @anime_los_angeles where it all began in 2025. ALA introduced the Winter Cosplay Championship delegation for the first time ever and while applying me and @celestiallfae.cos decided "why not?" And checked the box to be considered for the delegation. We ended up taking home Best in Show AND the WCC delegation which took us to our first ever time competing at @holidaymatsuri where we won our qualifier to compete at the @ecgcosplay finals in Paris!

My competitive journey started in 2016 when baby Jay entered her first cosplay competition. In 2018 I discovered the World Cosplay Summit and thought how cool it would be to one day make it to that level of competitions and this year marked my first ever international competition and we took home second place!!! I couldn't have been more honored to share that stage with some of the finest competitors I've had the pleasure of meeting. Every single team was incredible and everyone was so kind. The entire experience of being at Japan Expo and participating in the ECG finals made me so loved and like I was apart of such a beautiful community. It was truly a gathering of people sharing their passion for cosplay with each other and uplifting one another. I'm so greatful for all the new friends I've made! Big shouts to @binkxy for being the best con mom and helping us navigate our way around an unfamiliar environment and always advocating for our needs and helping us through the whole weekend.

I also must speak to the judges @ludus.cosplay @pretzlcosplay @zibartas_cosplay @talonscosplaycrusade and @willowcreativ they made for such an encouraging and comfortable judging environment that left us feeling inspired and uplifted! Speaking to the judges during our feed back reinforced so much of the hard work we poured into this project and gave us more guidance on how to continually improve on future projects and I'm so so greatful for the environment they offered the competitors.

And last but not least the biggest shout to the @epic_asso team for being the best they could be in keeping all us competitors hydrated and being so attentive!

Can't believe it's been 2 months since ECG! Take me back, man. I'm very excited to be working on my next project to apply with for the 2027 NCC qualifier. Fingers crossed I get accepted 🤞. In the meantime have some more Dracula~

A little photodump post ECG. Can't believe July is almost over! I must gush about the experience at ECG nonetheless. I seriously can't express just how amazing it was to have the opportunity to represent the USA for an international cosplay competition which has been my ultimate dream since I discovered that international competitions even existed. Not only did myself and @celestiallfae.cos actually go but we placed 2nd which still doesn't feel real. The real prize of this whole experience though has been all the new people we met from all around the world who we got to know and laugh with the whole weekend. The actual process of the ECG was absolutely amazing and it's a competition I can't praise enough to go for if you're thinking about going to an international comp. The staff were amazing, the convention was fun, and everything was so well organized. And you can't forget being on one of the world's biggest stages~

The rest of our stay in Paris was also such a privilege and I will never forget how amazing it was to get to spend a week with some of the people I love the most in my life 🫶. Being able to see some of the most amazing wonders in the world and especially getting to see the landmarks of the source of my inspiration for my art was surreal. Everything started at ALA, one day I thought "wouldn't it be crazy if I painted Haydee's harp with real oils and painted real scenes relating to the count of Monte Cristo and it's author". And then a year and a half later I got to stand in front of one of the subjects of those paintings. Life really is crazy and I'm so thankful for everything we got to experience in those two weeks 🫶.

the finals are tomorrow night (or morning in US time) & we will get to showcase the final forms of both our cosplays & performance that have taken up over 2 years of our lives. so much love & dedication went into what we are prepared to present tomorrow, we hope to make yall at home proud !! we love our @anime_los_angeles & @holidaymatsuri families for getting us from Cali in 2025 to Paris in 2026 💕 this years competition is insane, with so many incredible cosplayers we have the honor of sharing the stage with. make sure to give each & every one of them so much love !! thank you all for your love & support throughout our journey to get here, we will be sure to keep you updated <3

It is extremely disappointing to hear someone so influential in the community that so many look up to speak about cosplay contests in such a condescending manner. You can say that they were speaking about things from a business perspective and that they were standing up for how the competitive community gets treated but the tone in which things were spoken about speaks volumes. It is true that competitive cosplay is not a viable path to make money, and it shouldn't be. Competitive cosplayers should be treated well because of what they provide for the conventions they compete at which is the only point I can agree on but it is extremely tactless and ignorant to tell competitors they aren't apart of the community, that no one cares about them unless they're famous, that competing is a waste of their time. Building skills is not a waste of time. Performing with something you're passionate about is not a waste of time. Meeting all the people while spending time in the green room is not a waste of time. Making all the industry connections you *can* make through competing is not a waste of time. Internet fame can be unpredictable and isn't a stable form of income for a lot of people. While it is ok to pursue that if that's someone's passion, telling an entire community they are wasting their time because they are choosing to enjoy cosplay in a different way and, I don't know, don't actually want to make money off their hobby is extremely tone deaf. I wouldn't trade the kind comments and cheers I've received at cosplay competitions for all the internet fame in the world. Because you know what? I have gone viral before. And you know what else? All the attention and clicks I got for that were temporary. Every person who saw those videos and followed me as a result probably forgot who I was the second they scrolled away. Instead what the competitive community has offered to me has been trips across the country and soon a trip across the WORLD to go compete. The community of friends I am making has turned international and I would NEVER trade that for anything in the world. #cosplay #cosplayer #cosplaycontest by @jay_phoenix_cos
