This is a video of American novelist, James Arthur Baldwin, speaking at Cambridge University in 1965. Please take the time to listen and share this video. Along with being an American novelist, James Baldwin was also a playwright, essayist, poet, and activist. His work discussed a plethora of racial and social issues; and he is well known for his works that spoke about the Black Experience in America. Some of his works include, “The Fire Next Time” (1962), “Giovanni’s Room” (1956), “If Beale Street Could Talk” (1974), “Notes of a Native Son” (1955), and more. *The information I am using can be found and is from biography.com & the Wikipedia biography on James Baldwin. by @jayashleyy__

Until black lives matter, all lives wont matter.
We want justice
We demand justice
Say their names.
In response to prior posts I would like to instead take this opportunity to share the link that’s in my bio with you all; it will lead to a mass majority of donations, petitions, call numbers, protest information, & etc. Along with others that may not be mentioned on the list. If you are participating blackouttuesday, please don’t use the blm hashtag because it is filling the hashtag with black screens. Our voices can’t go silenced & we must continue to spread information about the injustices that are still taking place against black people. If you have been silent about this whole situation I would highly advise you to take the time to read the room, look for information on social media (Instagram, Twitter, etc.) or ask others. Regardless if you are not intentionally trying to do so, silencing is very damaging. If you haven’t already please take the time to have those uncomfortable discussions with your family about racism, don’t be afraid to correct or call out a friend that has said something racist, take this time to not only educate & spread information to others. But educate yourself more & more everyday.
Here’s a challenge: If you are able to, make a goal to sign at least 1 petition a day using the link in my nop or in this post. Furthermore, after signing it make sure to post the link on all your socials, & share at least 1 post regarding the injustice that is occurring rn for black people on your story & etc. Bump up the number as you go.
