Meet Sparky!

Pangolins are the most trafficked animals in the world, heavily targeted for their meat and scales. They are the only mammals on Earth covered entirely in tough scales made of keratin—the same protein that forms our own hair and fingernails.

The cooked thing is that an estimated 200,000 of these gentle, prehistoric creatures are taken from the wild every year, fueled by a high demand for luxury leather, exotic meat, and traditional medicine.

Sparky was rescued by the incredible team at @pangolincrf after being severely injured getting stuck in an electric fence. He was unable to walk properly and even lost use of his tongue which is vital for him to forage for termites and ants.

Thanks to the incredible dedication of the team and many months of daily vet checkups and rehabilitation, Sparky has now been released back into the wild where he is thriving!

If you’d like to learn more about Pangolins and how you can help these critically endangered creatures please check out @pangolincrf

“On our way out of Amboseli National Park, we found TJ the Super Tusker grazing in front of Mt Kilimanjaro lining up for my dream shot.

I was thankful for the fast autofocus of my A7IV to capture the fleeting moment these two giants were lined up. The 70-200 f2.8 GM II was perfect to give some lens compression while keeping them both in frame and staying sharp across the whole image.” - @jaybaumann.photos 🐘⛰️

What a magnificient shot, Jay! 👏

2025 was the year I really found my passion for photography.

It’s the first year I truly committed to improving and putting aside me self doubt. I’ve always felt like I’m not artistic and it’s been incredible feel like I’m able to share my own creativity through my photos.

I was incredibly lucky to be able to shoot in some incredible locations this year and I cannot wait to see where the next adventure will be.

Thank you to all of the brands that I have worked with and everyone who has interacted with my posts or given me feedback and tips on how to improve.

It was so hard to narrow down my favourite photos but here they are!

Here’s a few tips I’ve learnt to help shoot Northern Lights - save this post in case you forget before the next storm!

LOCATION MATTERS JUST AS MUCH AS SETTINGS!
Start with a good landscape photo, Northern Lights won’t save a boring composition!
Aim for north-facing and as dark as possible
If you can’t avoid lights, USE them!

EVERY SOLAR STORM IS DIFFERENT
Fast + bright storm: 1-6 sec + ISO 3200-6000
Slow + faint storm: 10-25 sec + ISO 1000-3200

DON’T RELY ON FORECASTS!
Learn to read Bz, solar wind speed, hemispheric power to decide what setting you’ll need.

GEAR
Use your lowest aperture lens & shoot wide open!
(Aim for f2.8 or lower ideally to let more light into your sensor)

Wide angle is better to capture more of the sky and landscape, I shot all these at 14mm.

Tripod + self timer (2 sec) to avoid blur from pressing shutter

If you have an intervalometer on your camera use it!

FOCUS
Manual focus on the brightest star until it become clear, that’s how you get those lights in focus.

Most importantly remember to have fun and take some time to soak in the magic without your camera!

Feel free to comment or DM any questions you have!

Fall photoshoot with my local bear cubs - looks like we have a little female cub along with another little male this season. Changing it up from the two males she had last litter.

See that little dangly bit on the end of her tail? That’s her perennial tuft that helps direct urine away from her body and towards the ground behind her to stay clean and aid in scent marking.

Even caught Mumma Bear cooling off in the new water feature before getting back to her busy foraging schedule.

A day exploring the forest with my favourite muse @makilllla

Scroll to the end to see a very average photo of an uncooperative Belted Kingfisher that was taunting us on the other side of the river.

Watch this space for the redemption shot

One of the adorable cubs from this year stacking on weight under the close watch of Mumma bear. This little cub is actually a younger sibling of my two favourite bears, hopefully I get to watch this little one grow up too!

I’m stoked that this year’s cubs are looking so healthy considering the horrendous berry season we’ve had this year.

A lot of our bears are getting desperate and it’s more important than ever to secure bear attractants as many vears struggling to find enough food and are trying to get anything they can.

Meet one of the rarest birds on Earth, the critically endangered Little Vermillion Flycatcher (Bruno/Darwin’s Flycatcher). We found this brightly coloured survivor, while working with the @charlesdarwinfoundation on Santa Cruz Island in the Galápagos.

The bird is extinct on several Galapagos islands, and only 10 breeding pairs remain on a very small area of regenerated scalesia tree cloud forest. The scalesia forest that these birds live in was reduced to below 1% of its original size with only 300 wild plants remaining in 2021z

The @charlesdarwinfoundation is currently doing a forest restoration project to return it to its natural state with over 50,000 scalesia seedlings planted and over 50 hectares of forest cleared of invasive weeds to allow them to grow.

Thanks to their conservation efforts, there was a record 56 fledglings born in the 2026 season, proving that by restoring the forest, the population of these vibrant birds can be restored with it.

Soaking up the last bit of summer at @thebeerfarmers with a visit to the sunflower maze and seeing the world’s most photogenic highland cows.

I’ve never seen as many Red Winged Blackbirds in one place, having a buffet on the sunflower seeds. There had to be a few hundred flying around the farm.

We also saw the start of this years pumpkin patch 👀

Hyenas have an undeserved bad reputation, even being included on the list of “Ugly 5” safari animals.

Not only are they adorable, the mothers actually spend more energy raising their young compared to any other land based carnivore.

They also have one of the most brutal and painful births of any mammal, using a pseudo-penis, reproductive organ. Giving birth through this narrow 1inch gap is incredibly dangerous with an average mortality rate of 20% for first time mothers and 60% of first born cubs.

It’s time we give these beautiful animals the respect they deserve!
