Social media is not reality…
I’ve always prided myself on being super transparent. Not only in real life but on social media as well. So often we only put out what we want others to see, and hide what we don’t. No one wants to see “negative” posts. So I’m here to put some reality on your page. You wouldn’t be able to tell but I was having the worse day in these pictures. I drove two hours to do this hike just to sit in my car and cry. I made it five minutes up the trail before I turned around, telling my friends to go ahead without me. I was emotional, embarrassed, and ashamed. Comparing real and messy human life to digital highlights only leads to feelings of anxiety, and inadequacy. Don’t let what you see online make you question your worth or make you feel like you’re falling behind. Focus on yourself, appreciate what you have, and that remember that your real life is more important than the image you create for others to see. taken in Mt Rainer National Park by @jaybree05

STAY WHIMSY AND WEIRD🧘‍♀️💗🪷⭐️

From the very moment we enter this world we are shaped by expectations- from the people around us, media, culture, and the over bearing presence of societal norms. Early on it is drilled in our brains that certain traits or behaviors are rewarded, while others are met with resistance. And so begins the process of changing or “editing” ourselves to meet the approval of those around us.

We conform. We impersonate. We mask.

And in by doing so, we lose sight of what makes us, well, us!
I wasted so many years just trying to belong, to be liked by everyone. I didn’t know who I was, what I liked, or what I wanted. And the second I stopped trying so dang hard, I attracted the people I’d longed so hard to have in my life. Those who love me for who I am, and never try to change me or dim my light.

So please please please be random. Be weird. Be loud. Be the light. Be the joy. Be annoying. Be cringe. Be too much. Be someone who makes people feel like someone. Be authentic. Be genuine. Be ambitious. Be too honest. Be real. Be proud. And be you. by @jaybree05
