oh Ecuador how i love you.

longish read ahead

i’m so incredibly thankful i got to go to ecuador again this year though it may not have been as long as the last time it was just as rewarding if not more.
going on this trip i thought i knew why i was going and ofc i wasn’t technically wrong but i wasn’t all the way right. i knew the ministry i would be doing but i didn’t know what God was gonna teach me on this trip. im sure if you know me you know how much i talk about missing ecuador and while that is very true that wasn’t what my heart was searching for while i was longing to go back. the last night with the team from Maryland we had a group debrief/ discussion where pastor aaron had asked three questions “1: how have you seen God move on this trip? 2: what have you learned about yourself? 3: how do you want your life to be different after this trip?” all my answers pretty much corresponded but i hadn’t made the connection as to what it was and then after some people had shared their answers God spoke to me and gave me that correlation. i wasn’t chasing ecuador necessarily i was chasing His presence. that’s not something i realized before but i know that was part of why God let me go back to ecuador so i could realize i was chasing Him not a place. and of course my other purpose for going back was to serve and spread the gospel which i loved every minute of and am so thankful for. but i wanted to share that because while sometimes we think we’re missing a place or a period of time maybe we are really just missing how close we were to God and need to get back to that point to find fulfillment in Him. granted it’s still okay to miss those things but go to the creator of those things and talk to Him about it, find your comfort in Him.
