"You are born looking like your parents, but you die looking like your decisions."

I won't let their choices, their upbringing, their decisions define who I will be. Sadly I am still breaking through some of the consequences or situations beyond my control, but I won't constrain myself to a certain identity, nationality, stereotype or get affected by stigma.

"Family" isn't excuse for self neglect, it doesn't mean I should mindlessly follow and obey, and it doesn't mean I should give whatever I can. We have different thoughts, beliefs, values, and I need to protect myself, for my future, and my future family. That's a firm boundary I have set from now. I have spent 2/3 of my working lift taking care of them, I don't expect anything in return, but they also need to grow.

You don't need to agree with me, but I hope you respect how I am trying to build a better life, for myself and to an extend MY future and future family. I also hope you understand why I have such a different perspective and feeling from the word "family". taken in Kawaguchiko, Fuji, Japan by @jaycee.dmg

10 Dec 2023 - I will always remember this moment, this feeling, my solo Japan Trip, first night getting to Kawaguchiko, I wanted to capture Mt Fuji under the stars. It was freezing, I rode a bicycle since I couldn't drive, went to this spot that was slightly windy.

Capturing night photos was already not easy, it was more challenging with stars, with the long exposure smooth water, with the cold weather. It was also super silent so I thought to turn on some music while I let each 15-20 sec shot process. Then this song Star from Jessi played, the guitar tone was so soothing, and It made the moment just perfect.

Looking back at that moment, I was happy, I was enjoying myself, but also a part of me hoped it would be shared too with a special someone, be it a partner, a friend, a loved one. There will always be a chance to write another warm, lovely, heartfelt moment like this, but for now may this photo be a reminder of how beautiful the simple things in life are.

I took my time driving, leaving Cape Chikyu. I found the second happiness bell and rang it, so that means happiness for the rest of the year?
Muroran has a beauty and calmness that warms my heart, seeing the people living their daily lives, finding happiness in precious moments together, that was a vibe. Though I was alone, I was infected by their warmth, and along the way the people greeted me.
Originally I planned to do a quick stop, including the vantage point to take the suspension bridge, but I loved that feeling of calm that I ended up spending an hour on this stop.

This suspension bridge is such a beauty, the photo cannot do it justice how massive yet safe it feels.

Had to climb quite a number of steps, my heart rate paced to 160BPM since I didn't stop the climb. But it was worth it. Reminds me of the Tsing Ma Bridge photo I took a decade ago (still use it as my phone wallpaper) and also crossing the Golden Gate Bridge with my work buddies despite the low visibility. I wish to go there again one more time to admire the beauty of San Francisco, but for now Muroran has its own charm that made me stay here for 30 minutes. taken in Muroran, Hokkaido by @jaycee.dmg

I remember last year, turning 35, part of me was feeling time is catching up. Health wasn't too good, body wasn't strong, in fact I started feeling "aging". It sucked.

But fast forward to now, I am not getting younger, but what I can control is how I feel, how I manage my food, fitness, strength, mindset, lifestyle, money.

With the right choices, with the right thoughts, I may not fully reverse aging but I can make my body cope and deal with it better.

After 2 months of a gradual but drastic lifestyle change, I feel stronger, mentally and physically, and as I approach the magic number 36 in two werks(3rd cycle of year of the horse), I am ready and wanting to build a better me, a better future! taken in モアイ像 by @jaycee.dmg

After 15 mins of driving, I was welcomed with very strong winds, hearing the whistling around me even with the car doors closed. Little did I know then that was from the tropical depression that was leaving Hokkaido at that time. I just took a couple of photos at Tokkarisho Observatory, then decided the wind was too fierce and seeing a huge rain cloud on the way, decided to go to Chikyu Cape before it pours.

Chikyu Cape is a beautiful, supposed to be serene, calm, but I got to experience it in a very different way. Not as windy as earlier, it still gave a nice dramatic vibe. Most importantly I wanted to capture the coastline of Hokkaido. I would love to come here again, but on a sunny, blue sky (with some clouds maybe) sort of day. Most importantly I wanted to ring the two Happiness Bells in Muroran, one of them was over here. Legend says that if I ring both I will be filled with happiness for the rest of the year!

With that said, I am still very happy with what I was able to capture! i also felt like I had Michael Jackson's Earth Song in the background!

This was the moment I felt the full power of 55-65KM/H winds!

Looks so calming, but reality was winds were piercing my face at this moment

I got an alert that lightning advisory is active so the more I decided to capture a couple more photos and leave to be less exposed to the lightning (if ever)

Such a beautiful scene

Cape Chikyu's lighthouse!

The first happiness bell. Legend says if I find both and ring the bell I will be blessed with happiness for the rest of the year!

Drove more than 12 hours today (including more than 10 Lawson/Seicomart/Family Mart stops, a lunch, a coffee, and a sad realization Cape Kamui closed early today). Had so much fun I ditched the digital world for a day!
