Time for some truth from someone who actually knows. This is a picture of Levon Helm with my sons (his grandsons). I played in Levon’s band from around 2007 till his death in 2012, and was married of course to Amy Helm, and continue to play music with her, and have continued to raise our sons together from our two different households. We have what many would call a blended family.
Because there is a legal battle going on, there are things I cannot talk about directly, but know this:
Anybody who tries to tell you that Amy Helm should not be running Levon Helm Studios, or that she has engaged in some sort of “malfeasance”, or that she has bad character, is WRONG, and they are either lying, or they don’t know the facts and have been mislead. Amy has paid the musicians and staff properly and been able to keep Levon Helm Studios going. She turned it from a “house concert” into a real venue. That is what HAD to happen because when Levon passed, the old way of doing it was never going to generate enough money to save the property from going under. She wishes to pass it on to our children and that’s what should happen. That is just the truth, no matter how some people want to spin it. If ANYBODY thinks that Levon would have wanted these clowns to take the venue away from his daughter, then they are out of their minds. I know all the internal workings of what has happened, but this is all I can say at the moment. Please support Amy Helm. by @jaycollinsband
