There’s something strangely human about roots.

Roots don’t really get to choose where they begin. They simply learn the ground they’re given. If the soil is soft, they spread easily. If it’s hard, they adapt. They bend around rocks, squeeze through cracks, cling to whatever gives them enough stability to keep the tree standing.

We learn how to love from the conditions we first had to love in. When warmth is consistent, maybe we learn that we can loosen our grip and still be held. But when love feels uncertain, we can learn to hold tighter, to notice every little change, to become incredibly good at surviving.

And that’s what makes this tree growing over the rock so interesting. Its roots aren’t foolish for clinging to stone. They’re doing exactly what roots are designed to do: finding a way to survive n flourish in an environment that may or may not be meant for them. Survival and nourishment aren’t always the same thing. by @jaydasphotobooth_
