📚 Book Review 2: The Girl with the Louding Voice – Abi Daré
Theme: Coming of Age, Education & Empowerment.
Genre: Contemporary Nigerian Fiction (African Literature)

Reading The Girl with the Louding Voice felt like sitting with every woman who’s ever been told to hush… and watching her rise, regardless. Every chapter kept me in a mix of emotions—anger at certain characters and hope for some. And of course, anticipation for the next plot twist.

At a tender age, Adunni experienced life in a way we never wish any young girl—or any one at all to: forced into early marriage, stripped of her mother’s love too soon, and thrust into a world that demanded silence from her 💔

And this young girl, despite the bouts of trauma, found it somewhere deep down in her to re-assert that “I am not a wasted waste; I am Adunni. A person important enough because my tomorrow will be better than today.” (Chapter 42)
Now THAT is courage. THAT is determination. And THAT is what it means to find—and keep—your LOUDING VOICE.

Adunni’s story isn’t just about survival; it’s about becoming. A mirror through which I saw every girl who ever dreamed beyond what the world told her she could be.

Adunni’s louding voice is a reminder that somehow, through the tears, we need to realize: God has always been giving us words… we just need courage to use them 🤔

📚 Book Review 1: The Purpose Driven Life (Updated Edition) – Rick Warren
Theme: “It All Starts with God.”
Genre: Christian Non-fiction

📖 “It’s not about you.” — That’s the very first line of The Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren.
And honestly? It hit me hard.

Something about this book makes it an easy first recommendation. Beyond being one of the best-selling nonfiction books in publishing history, its message draws every reader into a wholesome encounter.

In a world that constantly preaches self-focus — “find yourself, build yourself, define yourself” — it’s so easy to fall into the trap of living a self-centered life. It’s become such a subtle, almost unrecognised pattern that even on the journey of purpose discovery, we often use ourselves to define our purpose — our passions, desires, strengths, and circumstances.

But Rick reminds us that true purpose begins when we shift the focus: from self to Source.

We were created by God’s purpose and for God’s purpose. He thought of us long before we ever thought of Him — and that truth changes everything.

If you’ve ever asked, “Why am I here?”, this book is a gentle, powerful place to start. The author recommends a 40-day intentional journey through the book — one chapter a day — to help you fully absorb its lessons.

Here’s to rediscovering life through the eyes of the One who designed it. 💫

(Having first read it back in 2018, I was thrilled to hear it’s been updated from 40 to 42 chapters. I can’t wait to start a fresh read this November 😃)

Have you ever read this book? What stood out to you the most?
