Growth and Gratitude.

2 years ago I was at an all time low in life and didn’t know where or what I was doing with my life… A college dropout, no job, and living with his parents. On top of that being in my own head thinking I was a disappointment and that I was letting everyone close to me down consistently. At the time I was sitting on the couch and coaching middle school wrestling when I received a call that I will forever be grateful for. The call was from Terry Pack at SCC asking if I was interested in competing again at the college level. That call changed my life in more ways than I can explain. Not only did it allow me to do something I love so deeply, but it was a 2nd chance that let me hit the reset button, get me back in the right headspace, and give me something to work towards.

My time at SCC had its ups and downs. I battled injuries constantly, which held me out of a lot of competition, and the final injury making me eventually medically retire. However those moments taught me more than winning ever could. They tested my patience, my discipline, and my mindset. There were days I questioned everything again, but this time I didn’t quit. I kept showing up, trying to be the best teammate and asset I could be even when things weren’t going my way.

Through all of it, I found a better version of myself. Not just as a wrestler, but as a person. I learned how to handle adversity, how to stay consistent, and how to be grateful for every opportunity in front of me. Along with that I met people who I hope will be by my side for years to come, brothers I went to battle with and built lifelong bonds with.

To my coaches, teammates, friends, and family… Thank you for believing in me when I didn’t believe in myself. You all played a part in helping me get back on my feet and pushing me to keep going, I will forever be grateful for you all.

This journey isn’t over yet, but I can confidently say I’m not the same person I was 2 years ago… I will be leaving here with lifelong friends and memories, a degree and a step in the right direction.

I’m excited to see what this next step in my life will be, stay tuned.
