What if Daft Punk had formed in the UK punk scene instead of the French house scene?

That question got stuck in my head, so I decided to build the answer.

Starting with a Daft Punk-inspired helmet, I reimagined it through the lens of 1977 punk culture. Out went the immaculate chrome finish. In came gunmetal paint, a mohawk of spikes, a perforated steel visor, graffiti, battle scars, band badges, studs, a bolted-on canvas patch and even a flannel "bum flap" hanging from the back.

Unlike most of my work, this wasn't about precision. Punk was never about perfection. It was about urgency, attitude and making something with whatever you had. I deliberately resisted the temptation to clean up the spray paint, straighten the lettering or make everything symmetrical. The imperfections are the point.

The finished piece is intended to feel like an artifact from an alternate timeline.

What if Daft Punk had been a punk band?
This is my answer.

Human vs Kaiju is proud to unveil a one-of-one prototype: WEBSTOR. 🕷️

Inspired by the MOTU universe and reimagined through the lens of street culture and vinyl art toys, this oversized interpretation transforms the classic master of escape into a towering designer toy monster.

Chunked-up proportions. Giant crawler limbs. Sneaker-inspired footwear. Simplified armour shapes. A silhouette that sits somewhere between vintage action figure, sofubi kaiju, and urban vinyl collectible.

Standing beside the the MOTU Classics Skeletor figure, the scale becomes completely ridiculous... exactly how we like it.

This is a one-off prototype and a personal exploration of what happens when 80s toy nostalgia collides with contemporary art toy design.
Part MOTU.
Part kaiju.
Part vinyl toy.

TISM Prototype Platform figure.
By: Jay-Eff

In 1995, Melbourne band TISM released two comic books around the same time as "Machiavelli and the four seasons' was released.

Years later, during their hiatus, I explored a simple idea: what would an unofficial “Issue #3” look like?

I developed a series of character sketches and a general outline for the comic, which eventually appeared in my  Art Crimez zine #3. At the time, it was just a creative exercise.

This week-coincidentally just before TISM’s Melbourne show (and the week following the demolition of the Sydney Opera house -I’ve developed one of those original sketches into a physical platform toy.

It’s been interesting to see a concept move from a fan-driven idea, to print, and now into a tangible object.

The plan is to produce a small run of variants inspired by TISM’s different visual eras.

A nice reminder that ideas can sit dormant for years, and sometimes come back around at exactly the right moment.

In 2025, this began as a rough sketch on a scrap of paper while I was on a train.

The original idea was a Kaiju robot monkey - something that felt part street art, part vandal, part oversized mechanical monster. A character that looked assembled rather than manufactured, with mismatched parts and art-driven attachments, like it had been built out of necessity rather than design rules.

I blocked out the initial sculpt myself in Nomad, focusing on proportion, attitude, and silhouette. From there, the piece was refined with the help of sculptor Julian Briones, who helped push the forms and details to where they needed to be.

Printed in my studio on a Bambu P1S, over the span of a few days, as parts slowly came together into something tangible.

The finished figure stands at around 14 inches tall.

This wasn’t created for a brief, a pitch, or a production pipeline. It was built simply because the idea wouldn’t let go - and because the tools now exist to take something from a half-formed sketch to a physical object without asking permission.

Proof that if you want to make something, there are truly no gatekeepers anymore - you just need time, curiosity, and persistence.

It may be a one-off.
But it exists. taken in Geelong, Victoria by @jayeff.jpeg

FrostBite Edition – Baby Yeti
Human vs Kaiju Design Team

This limited-edition sofubi sculpture reimagines the elusive Baby Yeti in a moment of tranquil suspension. Cast in shimmering silver metallic with delicate blue and pink accents, the figure evokes an ethereal presence — a mythical being frozen in time. Mounted against a vibrant pink Manga comic page, the piece bridges folklore with pop culture, blending traditional Japanese vinyl aesthetics with contemporary design. Limited to just five pieces, the FrostBite Edition is a rare glimpse into the serene side of the Kaiju mythos — a fleeting moment of calm before the storm.

Today I attended the Outsiders show in ol' Melbourne City. A huge collection of street art from the collection of Sandra and Andrew
Sandra and Andrew have been collecting street art for so many years and they, probably more than anyone, recognize just how important and pivotal the Melbourne scene has been.
I have, for a long time, wanted to be part of their collection, but my art career has been a jagged line and I never really felt like I have been part of the scene long enough to be important.
I was understandably blown away when I found 2 of my old stencils from around 20 years ago amongst the panels of art in the studio room.
The works were from huge communal boards at the inaugural Melbourne Stencil Festival in around 2004.
While the Skullomania stencil is long gone, I was so excited to see the Chainsaw Sally stencil is still in my archives.
Great work to all the staff and a huge thanks to Jane for taking the time to chat.
Shout out to every single artist in this show... especially the ones I have known over the past 20 something years of street art... You have all been an inspiration and I was almost in tears when I saw your stuff on display.
Big thanks to @mandalaneart for suggesting I check it out .. you are and have always been an inspiration.

Thanks to @sandrewmelbs for sharing your collection... I suggest everyone see this show.... (To see artists that are much better than me )
