How do you even begin to articulate what it’s like having a chronically ill parent for well over three decades… An ever-present circumstance that consumes so much god damn time and energy, along with mental, emotional, and logistical s p a c e.

Now that it’s over there’s undeniable relief (for everyone - a sticky and uncomfortable truth). But also a void. All these empty pockets within myself and no idea how to fill them.

My mum was so decent, bright, and clever and man did she deserve a softer hand than the one she was dealt. More than anything else I hope she’s found some ease wherever she’s gone. Sent off with love. Rest now. xxx
