Introducing NEUROQUEER HEROES, a new short film showing on Open Eye Galley’s Digital Window Gallery until 31st August.

🌿What is Neuroqueer(ing)?

Neuroqueering is a multi-layered concept that combines neurodivergence with queer identity and activism. Ultimately, neuroqueering is about embracing cognitive and behavioural diversity and self determination to create a more inclusive, collaborative, and resilient society.

🌿Who are the NEUROQUEER HEROES responsible for this work?

Kaitlin Schaal, Emyr Bamford, Sam Prior, Sam Keall, Jay Farley, Amanda Ralph, Carrie Habb, Alixir Turnbull-Crane, Marie hanafin, Garnett ‘Ratte’ Frost, Alfie Beacall, Moon Rice, Meave Devine, Tom Moulsdale.

🌿How the NEUROQUEER HEROES Crown was created?

A crown of sonnets, is composed of 15 sonnets using Iambic pantemiter and 14 lines. They are linked by the repetition of the final line of one sonnet repeated as the
initial line of the next. The last (master) sonnet consists of all the repeated lines of the previous 14 sonnets, in the same order in which they appeared. This is a collaborative crown, working with 14 neuroqueer people with distinctly different neuroqueer experiences each creating their own sonnet.

Announcing Jay Farley (@jayfarleypoet) for Trans Voices : a poetry and spoken word event, part of TDOV Merseyside 2026, at the museum of Liverpool. Trans voices is a poetry and spoken word event showcasing a diverse mix of local trans+ talent. The event is part of the programme of events at Merseyside TDOV - a celebration of trans identity in Merseyside, marking International Trans Day of Visibility.

Jay Farley is a non-binary, neurodivergent, working class, established filmmaker, digital artist and poet. They have been published in the Queer Icons and Hot Poets Sparks anthologies, and illustrated in Woop Woop magazine. Their debut book of poetry A [Cupboard] Full of Tomboys was created under the mentorship of T.S.Elliot Award winner Joelle Taylor and published by Broken Sleep Books. They also perform their poetry, with quirky props and sometimes with music and musicians. Jay won a 2022 Creative Future Writers’ Award and was appointed their 2026 Liverpool Writer in Residence, taking place at Open Eye Gallery (@openeyegallery).

It’s tomorrow and I’ve got a cold!

I’m taking part in a fundraiser for the Liverpool Refugees Rock group.

The challenge is to climb the equivalent of Mount Everest (8,849m) in one day. We’re a team of 12 climbers, between us we need to complete a minimum of 2,212 climbs.

Where your money goes…
All money raised will go towards supporting the Liverpool Refugees Rock group, which meets monthly at Matchworks. Funds help us pay for transport to the wall, bringing more participants to sessions and, if we raise enough, the opportunity for outdoor trips.

Who will complete the most climbs? Back your climber & enter the raffle!
When you make a donation, you will have the option to leave a comment on the project page (please note: you can’t do this if you donate anonymously). Enter the name of the climber you want to back in the comments box and you’ll then be entered into our raffle to win some climbing related goodies!

With unapologetic authenticity, Jay Farley's words draw us from the cramped, metaphorical confines of a cupboard into a bold, expansive exploration of queer identity.

In collaboration with sound artist Quieting, Jay delves into the back of the cupboard and creates a shared experience of community, expression and queer joy.
