We gotta talk about what our kids are experiencing in these classrooms.

Think about going all the way to 5th or 7th grade before having your first Black male teacher. That’s a real experience for a lot of people. And representation matters. Seeing somebody who looks like you in that classroom can make a difference.

But it’s not just about who’s teaching. It’s also about WHAT our kids are being taught. Black history didn’t start with slavery, and our children deserve an education that reflects the full story of who they are.

So when we talk about the education system and what needs to change, these are the conversations we need to have.

Did you have a Black teacher growing up? And do you think having teachers who look like you makes a difference?

Let’s talk about it in the comments.
