I count myself supremely lucky to get to play music, and to be a part of the community of musicians I get to call friends. That feeling embodied this last weekend.

These are dark and strange times we’re living in. Evil is alive and well, and it feels like it’s winning most days. Between the blatant corruption, regular miscarriages of justice, outright abuse of human rights, the complete failure of competent leadership, the bizarre and disgusting personality cult half the country seems captured by, and the normalization of abuses of power not seen in the western world since nazi Germany, it’s easy to lose hope.

Music has always given me a feeling of transcendence, an almost out of body experience sometimes; I hope something I played this weekend shone a light into the dark night of someone’s soul. Good art is an honest reflection of the human condition, and good things like that are worth fighting for. I won’t be silent in the face of evil, and I hope every note I play (loudly) sticks up for the mistreated, speaks truth to power, and gives some hope or reprieve to those who despise injustice and evil. by @jaymichaelsmith

Corina’s debut album, Lost for Good is out today. I’m very proud of what we made. I sincerely hope people will listen to it in its entirety, because I loved every moment of making it with my bro & sis @sedanwithaw and @corinagrove Happy release day you two. by @jaymichaelsmith
