I wish I could go back and tell her.

You are not ugly.
You are not too much.
You are not less than anyone else.

You are lovely.

You just can’t see it yet.

This was me in 1988.
I had been bullied at school, and somewhere along the way I had started believing what other people made me feel about myself.

Looking at this photo now is strange.

Because all I can see is a young girl with a warm smile, soft features, and her whole life still ahead of her.

And it makes me sad that she couldn’t see herself the way I can see her now.

We spend so much of our younger years wanting to be prettier, thinner, cooler, more confident, more accepted.

Then one day you look back and realise…

You were already enough.

So if I could say one thing to my younger self, it would be this:

Don’t let other people become the mirror you use to see yourself.

Their cruelty was never the truth.

Just back from the loveliest break in Mallorca, celebrating my 57th birthday, and this photo pretty much sums up how I’m feeling right now.

I don’t need perfect.

Give me sunshine, the sea, good food, a glass of wine, someone I love beside me and a little peace.

Mallorca was exactly what I needed — time to switch off, slow down and just enjoy where I was.

Sunday lunch at The Newt in Somerset, followed by champagne, a cheeseboard and family time at Hanna’s to finish the day perfectly.

Sunday lunch at Lone Star ⭐️🌴

We first came here in December and loved it so much we came back.

Last time we could only get in for breakfast, so this time we made sure to book ahead and finally experienced lunch by the sea.

Relaxed, unhurried, and one of those places where the hours just seem to drift by.

Definitely one to book in advance, especially in high season.
