The porch is something I’ll miss when we leave our house. It looks extra special at this time of year with the hollyhocks sitting prettily against the Farrow & Ball Chinese Blue. I’m trying to remember how many times we’ve changed colours over the 19 years. Probably three. Out in the back garden we have established lots of flowers with a cottage vibe and when you head towards the nook by the apple tree, and pop your cheeks down onto the bench, it feels so secluded. The Lavender has practically wrapped itself around that area and I can never, ever sit there without a tweak and sniff of it. We’re nearly completed on our new house now, so we’re just looking for some lovely humans to come and bring a Family up in this cosy home that we’ve adored. #forsale#moving#garden#home#house by @jaynemichellelee

Baking today. Focaccia and cinnamon meringues just because I had the time and it’s Saturday. I traditionally want something special to eat particularly on this weekend day. Just habit. May I suggest that this is a lovely place to live ? Our much loved home is for sale, we’re only the second people to own this house that’s now over 60 years old. It has good bones and absorbed so much love by osmosis, the next people to live here will not fail to feed off it all. Yes, there’s a saggy wire, yes the walls are a bit rough where I pulled the tiles off one day, but we’re not all about perfection in our house. For the most part it’s storytelling that we like. The cabinet was a Wedding Gift from our oldest Friends, Matthew put the glass in the cabinet doors that he knew I would love. The pine chest to the side is a panic purchase when Dad built the kitchen and we realised there was nowhere to put cutlery. I whizzed down to Banana Warehouse and this little number was still wet from the stripping vat. The curtains were recently made by Eileen from round the corner, material I got eons ago off EBay. Not forgetting Dad’s graft making the cupboards.They work so well for someone like me who likes their pots on display and to get at them quickly. There have always been a lot of circles on my insta grid over the years, owing to the amount of baking I do.It’s what I come back to when I need to feel grounded. It’s as natural to me to cook and bake almost as to breathe. I really needed to make something today after conducting a house viewing here and after last week’s shenanigans. I baked brownies this morning to make the house smell chocolatey before the viewing and now it’s going to smell of slowly softened pink onions.
