I passed my travel agent certification! 😎 I’m now thinking about what services I can offer, building my website, creating content… The hamster wheel’s definitely going 🏃‍♂️🐹

Three years ago, I never thought I’d be travelling this much and launching a business at 40 while getting ready to leave for another two-month trip! 🤪 I didn’t even see that coming three months ago 👀

I don’t know if my business will take off or if it will stay a sideline. But I can’t just sit around doing nothing, applying blindly into LinkedIn’s void 😔

After 15 years in banking, I have a solid track record, experience and skills that I still want to leverage in the future. The right opportunity will come along.

But until then… next time you’re thinking about travelling… please 🅣🅗🅘🅝🅚 🅞🅕 🅜🅔 🥹✈️🫶🏻

𝐈 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐧’𝐭 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐦𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐥𝐲 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐝𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞. 57 flights, 17 countries over 4 continents. I wasn’t even thinking about work. Just living.

Although travel has always been a big part of my life, the last 3 years gave me the freedom to take it further.

I recently started to think: if I can’t find a job in the field I spent 15 years building a career in… what else could I do?

I have a business degree, years of experience and transferable skills. Why not build something of my own?

A few weeks ago, a random comment I saw on IG planted a thought: could I build a life around travelling while making a living?

I’ve spent all these years travelling without ever monetizing it. No business, no strategy — just travelling and sharing it because I love it.

Through it all, I accumulated serious travel knowledge. All these trips didn’t plan themselves: researching destinations, comparing hotels & prices, building complex itineraries, organizing budgets and transport logistics... I love that part. For me, preparing a trip is half the fun.

Maybe there’s something I can build from all of that. Help people plan their dream trips, share my knowledge, make them avoid hours of research and get the most value for their money. And ideally a way for travellers to connect and even explore the world with me.

I’m still shaping my service offer so I’m giving myself a few extra months to try different things as I travel some more.

Maybe my passion for travel becomes a business. Maybe something unexpected happens. Maybe I eventually go back to a corporate job. I don’t know. But as I remain unemployed for a little longer, I need to at least try something. I’m following what’s been driving me for so long… Travel.

My next trip is confirmed: 7 weeks across Australia & New Zealand next month. I’m so excited!

I barely scratched the surface of Australia earlier this year… and it’ll be my first time in New Zealand. Any advice for me? 😊 by @jaypersil

Now it’s a complete 180
Three years of putting in the time

4 months, 77 applications and 6 interviews later, I didn’t get the job. After 3 years of sabbatical travelling around the world, I tried to get back to it. I really did.
