Download ![Ok so kinda serious-ish post. I’m not really one to make New Year’s resolutions but this year I decided I should start doing things to improve my self confidence bc shit has been in the negatives since I came out the womb and I want to learn to love myself after living almost 20 years with so much self hatred.
My goals for this year is to learn to love my body. Not a full “learn to love myself” but a start. One step at a time, keep it realistic for myself.
I’ve always struggled with having a horrible body image of myself which led to a lot of issues that affected my childhood and affect me even now. As a trans person of course I’ve always have body dysphoria but it’s deeper than just that. I’ve gotten past my gender dysphoria after starting Testosterone and getting top surgery last year (Jan 6th was my anniversary! :) ) but the truth is I’ve always had a hatred for my body in just a general sense.
My whole life I have been held back by this body hatred and it has even stopped me from doing things that I love like swimming in the ocean or hanging out with friends from a fear of people seeing my body the way I see it.
Even the way I draw myself is usually an idealized version of me to make myself feel less “ugly” or whatever the fuck my brain tells me. So my first step to loving my body is to start drawing my biggest insecurities in self portraits because they are still a part of me. Learning to grow familiarity with every part of my body, even the parts I absolutely hate.
So here’s some self portraits of some parts I’m focusing on to start, my torso/stomach, and my chin/neck/jawline.
I have some weight on me, I’m not the skinniest bitch out here, I have no jawline/a soft jawline, and I have fat around my neck/chin (a double chin[?] idk) and I’m learning to let my hatred go
I’m genuinely so nervous about posting this. I HATE feeling vulnerable and being perceived outside my comfort level but I’m trying to be so strong and brave rn like the goat I am.
