Defib no 311: City Padel Taunton

Many of you will know that we run our Business Padel Leagues at City Padel centres in Exeter and Taunton, with Plymouth coming soon! 🎾

You may not know about City Padel’s commitment to the safety of its members and the wider local community. City Padel Exeter has had a publicly accessible defibrillator outside the centre for the past couple of years.

And now the newly opened citypadeltaunton has one too! 👏

Fully funded by City Padel Taunton, this potentially life-saving equipment is available to members and the wider community when it’s needed most.

Great to see a business supporting the communities around them! 👏🎾

⛰️ THE COUNTDOWN IS ON! 🇹🇿

In just over 2 weeks, a team of 7 will be flying out to Tanzania to take on the incredible challenge of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro for Jay’s Aim! 🩵

Our team made up of Sam, Kirsty, Sandra, Mark, Jon, Jamie and Dan, our CEO.

This is going to be one epic adventure! Every member of the team is entirely self-funding the trip, meaning 100% of every penny donated will go directly to Jay’s Aim and our mission to help prevent young people from dying from sudden cardiac arrest across the South West of England. 🙌🏼👏🏿

We held a Jay’s Aim training day on Friday, bringing our brilliant team of trainers together for a day of learning, sharing knowledge and making sure we’re all fully up to date.

We started the day with breakfast at Parklife Cafe in Heavitree ☕🥐 before heading to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital for some brilliant training from our Clinical Ambassador, Dr Ben Clayton, and his team on delivering high-quality CPR. 👨🏽‍⚕️📈

Triangle Insurance Brokers were then kind enough to let us use their office space, where we completed further safeguarding training before Matt Upston, one of the Jay’s Aim team, led a session to ensure we were fully up to speed on Benedict’s Law. 📖

It’s not often that we get the full team of trainers together, and days like this really highlight just how incredibly fortunate we are to be able to share the knowledge and experiences we’ve collectively gained across education, cardiology, sport and first aid. 🫀🎓🏃‍♂️⛑️

Continuing to learn from one another and ensuring we’re delivering the highest-quality training possible is a crucial part of everything we’re trying to achieve at Jay’s Aim. 🩵

A huge thank you to the @exeter_chiefs_foundation for supporting us throughout the 2025/26 season as one of their matchday charities! 🩵🏉

Last week, Jay’s son Remy joined our trustee (and proud mum!) Sam at the Exeter Chiefs v Bristol Bears Premiership Cup fixture to accept an incredible cheque for £6,325.83 from the Foundation. 🙌💥

⚽️🎾FREE DEFIBRILLATORS - SW Sports Club Defibrillator Campaign🏓🏀

We’re still looking for sports clubs to take us up on our new defibrillator campaign. Our recent biggiveorg match funding campaign has given us the opportunity to provide 12 pitchside defibrillators and defibrillator training to sports clubs based in the South West. 🙌🏼👍🏼

We now need your help to identify local clubs in need. 🗣️📢

We're particularly keen to hear from clubs that:

* Do not have their own clubhouse.
* Play home fixtures at multiple venues.
* ⁠Run both adult and junior teams.
* ⁠Are based in areas of higher deprivation.

❤️ LIFESAVING SKILLS FOR YEAR 8 ❤️

Today, our Year 8 students took part in CPR and defibrillator training, learning vital skills that could one day help them save a life.

The sessions were delivered by a South West-based charity established in memory of Jay Osborne, who sadly passed away from a sudden cardiac arrest while out running in Exeter at just 28 years old.

Since 2018, the charity has delivered free CPR and defibrillator training to more than 42,000 people, as well as providing over 300 public access defibrillators and funding 360 cardiac screenings for young people.

During today's interactive sessions, every student had the opportunity to practise CPR using their own training manikin and learn about the use of a defibrillator.

A huge thank you to the team for visiting The Blandford School and giving our students the confidence and knowledge to know what to do in an emergency. ❤️ @jays_aim

It was a pleasure to be invited by The Circuit (part of the @the_bhf ) to speak at their workshop at the Emergency Services Show at the NEC in Birmingham.

The workshops explored the latest evidence, practical challenges, and opportunities to improve access through unlocked defibrillator cabinets.

It’s been our default policy at Jay’s Aim to provide unlocked cabinets wherever possible and it was a privilege to give our own experiences and to try and reassure other businesses, charities and organisations that using unlocked cabinets is fundamental to trying to improve our survival rates of sudden cardiac arrest here in the UK.

If you’re not convinced please take a look at some of the data in the included pictures. The evidence shows that unlocked cabinets are as safe from theft and vandalism as their locked alternatives, yet speed up access by at least one or two minutes.
