As @queerclimbtastic ‘26 comes to a close, I leave this space feeling bittersweet.

As this chapter ends, so does my time serving on the QC Board as Programs & DEI Director.

When I joined the board, I stepped into an organization and community that, in my opinion, wasn’t fully living up to its values. How could a space that claimed to be for everyone still feel like it was built for only some?

As I dug deeper, it became clear that creating a truly inclusive space meant dismantling long-standing systems that had historically excluded many members of our queer community. Whether it showed up in our branding, lack of representation, content, and media. I made it a priority to name those issues for what they were and work intentionally to replace them with something better.

The results speak for themselves.

Since launching our rebrand on March 1 of last year, we’ve seen registrations increase by more than 60%. Even more meaningful is who that growth represents: trans people, people of color, and women—communities that had previously been underrepresented in this space.

This week, I spoke with a transmasculine climber who had attended QC before. They told me, This is the first time they felt actually apart of the space vs a person at the event.

That conversation reminded me that inclusion isn’t just about who shows up—it’s about who feels like they truly belong.

Don’t worry—I’ll still be around next year. The only difference is I’ll finally get to do the thing most of you probably forget I actually do…climb.

For now, it’s time to rest, heal, and make space for me. Thank you to everyone who trusted me, my haters, and those who helped make this vision a reality.

Life update ✨

These past few weeks have been really eye-opening for me. I’ve realized that my mind-body connection hasn’t been the best, and the stress I’ve been putting on myself is starting to show physically.

Because of that, I’ll be taking a step back from a lot of my community involvement to focus more on myself and my health. Don’t fret, y’all — I’ll still be around, just not as involved for a little while. 💛

This past weekend was something special! What a feeling of homecoming this past weekend was. Got to represent @climbbeyondthebarrier for the second year in a row at @blkoutfest in leading their intro to bouldering outdoors clinic. Creating more accessibility in climbing through comfortability and knowledge brings me so much joy especially if it’s getting more diverse individuals out in the outdoor space.
