I wasn't born here. But everything I am, I built here.

I came to this country with a few bags and a dream. No connections in Savannah, no cushion, no real idea what I was walking into. Just a stubborn belief that if I put in the work, this place would give me a real shot at something.

There were days early on when it got quiet. Days when I missed people I couldn't even call at a reasonable hour. Days when I wondered if I'd made the biggest mistake of my life.

I didn't inherit this country. I chose it. And somehow, it chose me back through the people who showed up for a stranger and decided he was theirs.

I just started my 30s, and I swear I've already lived 15 lifetimes trying to build something here. Different cities, different versions of myself, years that nearly broke me and years that felt like flying, sometimes both in the same six months.
And through every one of those lifetimes, it's been the same handful of people carrying me through it. The friends who showed up on days I never had to ask them to. The ones who believed in what I was building before there was anything to believe in, and never once made me feel small when I fell apart trying.
I didn't have blood family close by when I needed it most. These people became that instead.

250 years in, and this country is going through a stretch that's testing all of us. It's loud right now. Divided, exhausted, angry in places. I'm not going to pretend I don't feel it too.
However, one thing I know about America: it perseveres. Through the darkest times, we come shining through. EVERY SINGLE TIME.
If living all those lifetimes here has taught me anything, it's that things fall apart and then they come back together stronger than before. EVERY SINGLE TIME.
That's been true for me. It's been true for this country for two and a half centuries. I have to believe it's true again now.

So say what you want about where I started. I wasn't born under this flag, but I've bled red, white, and blue into every single thing I've built since I got here, and I'm not planning on stopping.

I wasn't born here. Everything that matters, I found here. And I'm not done.
