A @jayyslab PRODUCTION // COLLATERAL

Countless nights spent testing prompts, techniques, etc., using 4 characters that I originally modeled in @blender.official. These 4 characters have become a little recognizable(mainly on Tik Tok), and I’ve been asked if they’re part of a show or would be part of a show.

Those curious comments and questions have led me to this.

1 shared world. 4 characters. 4 different paths.

Never did I think I’d be sitting here on vacation thinking about world building and story directions.

AI fight scene test: I let Gemini direct the whole scene 🎬

Series finale. Same fight, new director, one-shot prompt, and Gemini won.

The workflow: I gave Gemini the scene and told it who wins. It used my framework to build the prompt, I approved it. Then it blocked out the set and camera in Blender. No mannequins. No touch-ups. That was it.

8/10. Best score of the series.

Final verdict: both methods work. Mannequins for scenes with little to no action. No mannequins for scenes with action. Or build the hybrid.

AI fight scene test: camera-only Blender blockout, no mannequins 🎬

As promised, this run dropped the stand-ins entirely. Blender was just the camera person: angles, lenses, movement. Seedance kept full anatomical control.

And it worked. The fight reads way more fluid, way less janky. Solid 7.5/10 by my standards, up from 6.

The catch: this workflow lives or dies on your prompt. Anyone can get good angles, but good angles with a bad prompt still looks like shit.

Next test: I let Gemini direct the entire scene, no stand-ins. Follow so you don’t miss what it comes up with.

AI fight scene test: Blender blockout vs prompt-only 🎬

I let Opus block out this rooftop fight in Blender, then handled the prompting with my framework. Sharing the full clip unedited — honest score: 6/10 by my standards. I’ve actually done better with text prompts alone and no blockout.

So here’s the next test (posting next): camera-only blockout, no stand-ins. Going forward, my fight scenes use the camera without the mannequins.

COMMENT TIPS // The rooftop test, revealed 🔬

Here’s what I was actually testing: my old method was prompt-only, no blockouts at all. This run tried driving the fight choreography with Blender mannequin stand-ins... and the movement came out jank.

The fix: using Blender ONLY as the camera/angle guide (plus rendering in Eevee for lighting reference), Seedance gets full anatomical control. Or the real answer is a hybrid of both.

AI filmmaking workflow: new vs old 🎬

My prompts now run 10k–15k characters — long prompts, but effective. Paired with Blender blockout scenes for real camera control, the output is way more cinematic than prompt-only generations.

Old workflow: prompts only. New workflow: prompts + Blender previz. Night and day.
