As a mother raising a son in this world… dayum. 😮‍💨

A world where the violence and harm inflicted on womb carriers, femmes, our bodies, and this planet is at its boiling point.

And honestly? I have plenty of anger.

But lately I’ve been asking myself what would happen if I didn't let anger be the only thing I build from.

Because I’m raising a boy.

I don’t want to raise him disconnected from his emotions outside of anger.

I don’t want him to believe that being a man means being hard, silent, dominant, or untouched.

I want him to know how to feel.

How to listen.
How to repair.
How to be held.
How to hold others.

And I think there’s a piece of this conversation we don’t talk about enough:

GOOD men need spaces to learn a different language, too.

Not because women need to make ourselves smaller or softer for them.

Not because accountability goes out the window.

And absolutely not because women who have been harmed owe anyone access to their healing.

But because I believe there are men who are genuinely asking, “Okay… what do I do with all of this? How do I become something different?”

I’ve been thinking a lot about the rebuilding, rebirthing, damn-near-resurrection process that sooooo many Mothers experience. Let alone what single MUVAs are navigating. 🦋

My own personal snapshot of this “journey” has been exactly that... a longgggg process of digging my way back to the surface of belief. 🪶

Believing that I could create again.

That I could build something that wasn’t just a beautiful baby, but maybe a sliver of a solution to the way Mothers are thrusted into a life-changing role that so often disregards THEIR humanity.

This process hasn’t been perfect, and I won’t always get it right. But continuing to foster the juicy-ass audacity to fucking go for it feels worth navigating the process for.

So here’s to being down for the journey, for ourselves, and for one another —

until we get there. 🌀

A little about my approach…

I don’t identify as a postpartum doula.
I am a Postpartum Practitioner. 🌀

I always tell my community:
I’m the one who’s going to come mother the new baby that is… Y-O-U. 🪽

Doing laundry, dishes, or holding the baby isn’t the main plot for me.

Centering your emotional, energetic, spiritual, and physical transition into motherhood? That’s the main character. 💋

Making sure you receive weekly cultural postpartum soups, womb massage, and yoni steams over the course of three months? That’s the plot.

Creating an at-home altar for you and your family to ground into during our sessions? The plot.

Holding space for the additional parent as they transition, too? Also the plot.

And sealing it all with a feng shui session to support the energy and flow of your home for this new chapter?

Baby… I’m your girrrrrl. 🪶

These systems ♥️ to cheer for the blood, the screaming, the tearing, the primal mess of birth because there’s a cute baby waiting at the end of it.

But the second a mother stays wild after birth?

Suddenly she’s “too much.”

Too emotional.
Too angry.
Too tired.
Too honest.

We’ve normalized the violence of birth, but not the humanity of postpartum.

Mothers don’t owe anyone a performance of gratitude while they’re still bleeding, grieving, healing, and becoming.

The baby isn’t the only one born that day.

The Mother first. Always. 🌀
