My first video edit
Chicago City Championship 2020.

Footage: @youngballerztv

I’m starting this phase where I left off before I left Chicago. Making a name for myself in art always was the dream, but truthfully the high pressure made me stagnant. I think that happens often. Artist before they are discovered are natural with the world as our canvas, then we often feel the need always deliver to what viewers felt the first time. Always working to chase that first “high” of our audiences discovery. I always questioned if what I was creating was up to a standard instead of just creating. That’s what makes creativity fun. Just the unknown of the results and exploring all its aspects. I lost the playfulness of it. Showing my early art reminds me of this. Dear U ,

I’m grateful for the opportunity to be apart of bridging the gap of the arts and our cultural spaces on our University of Miami campus. I hope we continue on this journey of boldly stepping in our truths and redefining what these spaces are to be. Always, always stand true.

From designing my first set in the theater department , to creating television in The Lab for our student body, to shooting with Gravity, to writing my first musical I am forever grateful for the support of my community giving me the encouragement and strength to push these boundaries. Even through all the adversity, I can finally say we did it 🎓.

Chicago I am coming home proudly I couldn’t have made it this far without the dreams you always told me to dream. I hope to bring all that I’ve learned into our city. We are a city of dreamers and creators and I can’t wait to create beautifully and limitlessly with you.

See you in the sky✨

From,
Jaz
