The Musings of Miles--83 OJC--OJC004
It's a Miles kind of a night. Gorgeous sound on Mile's Harmon mute with beautiful accompaniment by Red Garland's piano on 'Will you still be mine?' This record never seems to get enough spins. I will remedy that😏

Understanding-- Black Friday RSD--RTRLP007
In anticipation of the upcoming Black Friday RSD, here's a throwback to one of my favourite RSD releases from 2021. This 3LP live show was put out by @feldman.zev and @coryweeds through Reel to Real Records. An unbelievable live show captured in Baltimore in 1970. This show is straight fire. So much energy on this one with an absolutely ridiculously good band. Roy Brooks on drums, Woody Shaw on trumpet, Carlos Garnett on sax, Harold Mabern on drums and the great Cecil McBee on bass. Outstanding stuff and worth seeking out. 🔥 🔥 🧨 🧨 by @jazz.on.vinyl

Hub Cap--Tone Poet--ST84073
Freddie Hubbard was 23 when he cut Hub Cap for Blue Note in 1961, and he plays like he's got something to prove. Big tone, fast hands, and Philly Joe kicking him in the back the whole way. Priester and Jimmy Heath fill out the front line, with Cedar Walton and Larry Ridley holding down the rhythm section. Classic Blue Note sound all the way here. You know what you're getting with this lineup🔥

Old and New Dreams--ECM Luminessence--ECM1154
A masterclass in avant garde lyricism. Old and New Dreams brings together four legendary Ornette Coleman alumni, Don Cherry, Dewey Redman, Charlie Haden, and Ed Blackwell, to honor their mentor while creating their own unique sound. Reissued as part of ECM’s audiophile Luminessence Series, this 1979 classic sounds more spacious and is absolute essential listening.

Candy--79 Japan King--GXK8131
Recorded in 1958 when Lee was only 19 years old. A sign of things to come? What's your favourite Lee Morgan led record??

An absolute classic with Lee Morgan, Sonny Clark, Doug Watkins and Art Taylor. A great morning coffee record to start the day☕.
