05.10.2026 // 1.00 & 2.15 PM // Green Touring: Sustainable Touring Strategies for Ensembles with Jakob Teglgaard & Athina Kontou

This workshop concentrates on sustainable touring strategies for artists and ensembles. It examines how to plan cross-border tours with a lower environmental footprint: minimising travel distances, bundle performances along efficient routes, and reduce the carbon footprint of touring, combining touring with residencies, and using sustainability arguments strategically in funding applications. The workshop brings together two experts that together cover a huge range of subject areas as well as genres in the field of live music industry. They are both notable actors in regard to the greening of the sector and come with experience in working with both small and big artis / ensembles. The aim of the workshop is to convey a basic idea of the concept Green Touring and help artists and ensembles to develop strategies for their own careers. by @jazzaheadde

Jazzahead!, the world's largest jazz trade fair and festival, has set its 2027 focus.

From April 22 to 24 in Bremen, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania take center stage as partner region, with three showcase acts from each country. Estonian pianist Kirke Karja, part of the programming team, argues that Baltic musicians are less bound by the weight of jazz tradition. She points to saxophonist Maria Faust, who says she doesn't swing, she marches.

Jazzahead! is also opening a three-year Asia Pacific focus, running through 2029. It looks beyond Japan and Australia to scenes in South Korea, Indonesia and Thailand, and follows the fair's "Jazz from Africa" focus. Alongside the showcases, around 120 Clubnight concerts will fill Bremen's city center. by @jazzaheadde
