Last week I released a jazz bounce EP “Du Monde” inspired by a 2013 trip to New Orleans to explore jazz & my long love for bounce. I wouldn’t let myself launch jazzgroupiez until I spent a week in New Orleans, Chicago & NYC. I feel like these are the foundations of this music. The goal was to start at Congo Square and hit as many venues as possible. But the street musicians took all my attention. I started spending all nice trying to find them. I fell in love with bounce after going to a record store in Lafayette and discovering UNLV, Partners-N-Crime, DJ Jimi, DJ Jubilee, Juvenile, Magnolia Shorty…And my dreams really came true when i was able to produce a track with Partners-N-Crime on Papa Reu’s Certified album “Played” 🙏🏿Thank you @friday_gc for producing “chantilly” with me And thanks to my fam with deep Louisiana roots @srichardjazz 🎷 (“chantilly” “du Monde”) & @phoenixrisingjazz 🎷(“beignets”) by @jazzgroupiez

Happy June 27th 🤘🏾I’ve been making Houston inspired jazz fusion for the last 10 years because I wanted the world to know how special this city is. Houston has been setting trends with minimal recognition for decades. But over the last few years we got their attention. Recreating a jazz fusion track inspired by “Ball & Parlay” with Big Pokey then randomly hearing this playing on BBC radio 😮 has been the biggest blessing in my music journey This all started after a conversation with my bro @srichardjazz asking if he’d be interested in playing on some jazz fusion beats.
