In early labor rest, hydrate and nourish! But… once those contractions pick up movement is going to carry you through! Different positions create different space in your pelvis and help baby to descend!

Yesterday’s “Baby Boutique” was efficient and extremely helpful. Registered parents were able to come, get assigned a shopper and walk through the boutique and get items in which they needed. Diapers, wipes, car seats and soooo much more was all available FOR FREE!!!!

In life all we need is community! A community that is stable, reliable, helpful and available when you need them most. @oshun_family_center is that community for us as Black women. Servicing the community through care and resources!!!

Ten years of Black Maternal Health Week with @oshun_family_center… and somehow, it still feels like something words can’t fully hold. As a doula here in Philadelphia for the past 9 years, I’ve had the honor of supporting well over 100 births, and not a single one has ever felt routine. Each one is sacred. Each one is a reminder of why this work is my life’s mission.

I show up every day for Black and Brown women and babies because we deserve to be heard, protected, and cared for with intention. Safe, healthy, empowered births should never feel like a privilege… they should be the standard. And organizations like @oshun_family_center continue to create that standard right here in our city, making Philly not just a place to live, but a place where women can feel safe bringing life into the world.

Yesterday’s Baby Boutique was a beautiful reminder of what community looks like… families receiving essentials like diapers, wipes, car seats, and more. And if you missed it, please don’t be discouraged. There are still resources, still support, still help available for you.

Client Drop-Off in North Philly 🤍

Out here in North Philly checking in on one of my mamas today — dropping off diapers, wipes, and making sure she’s good on food. When you’ve been away for a minute, you start to realize how many people are really out here needing support, and I never want my community to feel forgotten.

I’m working on a few things behind the scenes so I can get resources to folks quicker and more consistently, but in the meantime… please comment or DM me if you need anything specific. Whether it’s baby supplies, food, clothes, housing programs — whatever it is, reach out.

I’m centering myself more on social media so I can be easier to access, especially for the families in Philly who are really struggling right now. I’m a Philadelphia doula through and through, but I do have connections that extend nationwide. If I can’t help you personally, I promise I can point you to somebody who can.

#POV: Your best friend just helped deliver a baby at 12 a.m. 🍼✨ … and you’re the supportive bestie who gets the honor of picking her up after a full night of bringing life into this world.

Yesterday, my best friend @jazzminboyd_ was at Bryn Mawr Hospital supporting her client as a doula and midwife assistant. By the early morning of the 26th, she helped welcome a beautiful Black baby into this world. 💕

This is powerful work. Black women in the U.S. are 3–4 times more likely to die from pregnancy-related causes than white women, and Black babies are twice as likely to die before their first birthday. These outcomes are tied to systemic racism and lack of advocacy in healthcare.

That’s why Black doulas and midwives are essential — they advocate, protect, and empower mothers during the most vulnerable and sacred moments.

I’m beyond proud of my best friend. She is one of the greatest doulas this world will ever see. 🌍💜 If you’re pregnant, planning to conceive, or in postpartum and need the support, care, and advocacy you deserve, reach out to Jazzmin.
